Good thoughts. I also see the progression in terms of complexity:

(Version 171 posted above)
3 spots
3 spots, more complex
6 spots
6 spots, more complex
8 spots

Not disagreeing, but depending on how you look at it the progression is there.

Sound reasoning there. I think that may be it, then.

We'll see if I tweak it any more. I'll step away from the color combos for a bit, make sure I'm still happy with everything. Plenty of inlay work to do.

Thanks for the thoughts!

The $1 chip seems to me "french", not "Union Jack"... but it's because I'm french, I suppose... :)

I was lucky enough to get some renders of my in-progress chip set from @Ray-Col, and having them to reference during the design process has been great. Along with the renders @Ray-Col offered some great info/observations on the color choices, so I've made some slight adjustments.

Change below includes Gray in the quarter (replacing Light Blue) and going from Lavender to Blurple in the $20 base.

Now on to the really exciting ones -- renders of stacks, case, and a splashed pot:

Have to say I'm pretty excited by the renders.

I should also get some more info/updates on inlay designs any day now. We'll see if I revisit any of the color/spot patterns at that point.

Exciting times for this project :)

Tinker, tinker, tinker...

A combination of the renders being done, inspiration from other recently posted customs, and having some time off have combined to get me into the design tool again.

No changes to the .05, .25, or 1 in this effort. I feel comfortable with those right now. But I did some tinkering with the $5 and the $20.

The $5 brightens up a bit with the yellow added, and the simpler spots still fight progression-wise, I think. Plus it has the added benefit of lowering the chip to an L4 base price, which is nice.

The $20 spot changes, and now includes Lavender. I'm liking the look of this a lot -- and I liked it a lot before :).

Now let's see how long this configuration lasts... :)

Any thoughts?

Looking great honestly!!

Might I suggest a change in the twenty to get rid of some white?

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have another look at it -- I haven't been able to decide how much I dislike/care about re-using colors. 3 chips have white in them, red/pink in most, etc. Still thinking on it...

Blasphemy!

Hahahaha. Every chip deserves white on it somewhere! Or so I claim (y)
:D

It's one thing when all the chips have a shared color either in a spot or base. But when more than 2 chips share a common color and the others don't, it looks off to me. Again just my preference.

Tinker, tinker, tinker...

This time playing with a Yellow-based $5 chip.

May I ask, if the casino was in London, then why not LeCercle? And why $ instead of pounds?

Great questions :)

Inlay design is still in progress. Those are exactly some of the things I'm still trying to think through/decide on. I could see it either way -- sticking to the theme works well, but I would also be happy with a set inspired by the location. Still thinking on it.

Never mind, just wanted to throw something more contrasty out there. The new 5er seemed just a bit tamed compared to the vividness of the others.
Nevertheless - renders of the latest iteration:

Bah... renders do help. Back to the chip designer I go :)

Playing with variations on $5 and $20.

@Ray-Col Do you think a Dayglo Yellow base would work next to a Bright White base? Enough differentiation?

Unfortunately not when you stick to neighboring colors to go with it. I'd consider dayglow yellow to be on the cooler, greenish side of the 'yellow' hue and you'll want at least a strong contrast in luma (I suggested Maroon) and a decent amount of spot area covered by it to get it away from a 'bright' appearence. That's a tough task when you have to simultaneuosly balance that with the character of the other chips in this set. I'm as clueless as you at this point. But I tend to become less open minded when diving into those things and oftentimes miss obvious solutions or workarounds ...

Thanks, good thoughts. I'll go tinker more :)

Alright, I've come back around to the $5 I was using earlier. I don't think there's enough merit in trying to solve this yellow $5 problem right now -- I can always incorporate/build a set around a yellow chip in the future. Just not right now :)

I also changed the Lavender spot to Retro Lavender on the $20 -- might not make much of a difference, but it looks better :)

This one's feeling pretty close, unless there's something obvious I'm overlooking, or small tweaks I can make to improve something.

Hopefully I'll have some near-final inlays to pop in here soon enough!

Final inlays are very, very close at this point. I don't mean to tease -- I'll post them as soon as I can :)

In the meantime, I'm thinking about some of the extras now -- cut cards, dealer buttons, maybe some stickers.

What's the go-to for custom dealer buttons? Cut cards? And is there anything else I should think about? Any other good ideas? :)

I'm feeling like I have my final design (post #86 above). Unless something else hits me, I'll give the final a few days to settle on me before pulling the trigger...

If anybody has any thoughts/input, now is the time :)
