I have purchased this set and it appears to be about 1600 chips. They are Top Hat and Cane Paulsons, have a hot stamp initial on the middle. They are vintage, but are almost unused.

White - 600
Red - 450
Green - 300
Black - 150
Gold - 100

Typically I have 6-10 guys, we like to play for about 2-3 hours. Typically buy in is between $25-$40.

Would you create a Tourney Set or Cash set with these? Or Both?
Any ideas on denoms?

I will most likely have somebody mill and create labels for them from the forum. Who would you use?

What would you do with this set?
Value?

I appreciate all of you on this forum, I have built other sets with you guys!

Side Note - Also - I am an auctioneer and come across decent sets and have had poker chip collections (before I was a part of this group) if you are looking for something in particular let me know!Just would like to repay for the advice if I can help you locate something.

My vote would be to have both a cash and a tournament set from these. I'd say mill and relabel one set (either cash or tourney) then keep the other chips as JUB. It will help differentiate the sets since one would be hot stamped and one milled while also keeping the original stamp a little bit longer.

Based on your breakdown and using everything I’d do this.

Tourney -
Up to 12 players 15k/20k start stack of 12/12/7/10/1
or up to 18 players 8/8/8/10/1. Plenty of 1k & 5k for color ups. Or you can do 10k start stacks and use the extra 500, 1k, 5k for rebuys/color up.

150 - green $25’s
150 - black $100’s
150 - red $500’s
200 - white $1000’s
50 - gold $5000’s

Cash -
150 - green 0.25’s
400 - white $1’s
300 - red $5’s
50 - gold $20’s

Thank you for your advice I really appreciate it!

I’d say make a cash set that you can also play tourneys with people that you trust. Or just get something else for tournaments. Shaped labels with matching CNC milling, I think @Gear has a one-stop shop.

100x gold 25c
200x white $1
250x red $5
200x green $25
150x black $100

Sell the 400x white, 200x red and 100x green chips to offset the customization cost.

Totally depends how much you'd wanna spend.

The stamps looks suitable for shaped milling from @Gear. However that option is the most expensive route.

A cheaper option would be @Josh Kifer milling, and labels from @Gear (or other cheaper label options which also exist)

If you have time and enjoy it, you could set up your own milling rig and do most of the work yourself and only order labels.

Fourth option is to sell these and buy another set with the money. This is the easier/quicker option. Could be a good idea if you just want a playable paulson set and prefer spotted chips instead of solids for example.

Fifth option: keep a smaller set and sell of some racks and combine with whatever option above you prefer. I'd probably wanna only make one set from these chips. Seems a bit wierd to me to have two separate sets (cash/tourney) with identical colored solid chips. Keep a breakdown of 400-800 chips or so, to cover a one table cash or tourney game.

Just stumbled in here. Love threads like this and even though I'm late to the party, I'll make a small comment on the great recommendation given here. So my only nit with this is you will never use 150 T500s with a set like this. You only need 84 for starting stacks, and possibly a few more for color-ups. I would only make 100 and save the rest in case your games grow and you need more $5s. You probably won't, but as I said, you will never need anywhere close to 150 in the tournament set.

So, have you done anything yet???
