My apologies if I've overlooked a thread discussing this already, but does anyone have any insight as to building or buying a tabletop poker setup for a pool table? Due to limited space, wanting to host games using the pool table as the playing area, but actually, have a nice table that I wouldn't want to be damaged. Players at the games aren't too crazy but would worry about wood on rails and the rail cloth being damaged from wrists resting on top of it. So, looking for someone who might have some insight on a tabletop that completely covers the top of an 8' table.

Sitting at a pool table is uncomfortable. The players' legs don't slide underneath, the height is not ideal, generally, the playing area is too large.

I understand limited space, but IMO, pick up an octogon in Craiglists for $35-$50.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yes, exactly this... I would not play at a game that utilized a pool table. I know it's been done. There ARE some threads on the topic, but general consensus is "bad idea". Honestly, I'd rather play on the floor...

Duly Noted.

Not to pile on, but I've played on a converted pool table exactly once.... and would never do it again. Sitting on the floor playing on upside-down cardboard boxes is a significantly better approach, as is almost anything else.

Unfold a pizza box on those upside-down cardboard boxes for a true oval feel (authentic casino weight table topper).
