Super Diamond (aka budget) craps set (2 Viewers)

Figured I’d post this here for anyone else out there curious about getting a home craps set and facing the hurdle of amassing a ton of chips for not-too-much money. I took recommendations given on crapsmat.com for the breakdown which is as follows (for up to 8 players):
$1 x 100
$5 x 250
$25 x 250
$100 x 250
$500 x 100
$100 x 50
If my math is right that’s a bank of $132,600; planning on using these for both tourney games as well as cash games (true odds against each other) where $1=$0.01 or something similar; it’s a hard sell getting friends to gamble larger stakes)
I ordered my super diamond chips from discountpokershop.com after initially ordering some claysmith 12-stripes that I wasn’t impressed with for the money. Honestly I think the Super Diamonds are quite good for the cost.

You’ll notice in the second image that the black chips are dusty (presumably some mold release compound) and you might also notice that they are substatially thinner than the other chips (~1/20th thinner since I can easily fit 21 chips per row for that color but not the others. Additionally the chips feel much slicker and very obviously made from a different plastic. I reached out to DPS and they were extremely quick to explain that they are indeed made with a different material and that they would be happy to exchange them for a different color if it was an issue. I thought about the possibility of dying white chips black so conducted an experiment:
Using Rit synthetic dye I was able to very satisfactorily dye a white chip black and so that is the path forward that I am going to take:

The right side was dyed with Rits synthetic dye and the left was dyed with the standard dye…. No surprises here. This was only a 10 minute dye cycle just in case anyone was curious.

i purchased a setup from crapsmat.com. It's a really basic setup but the layout itself is top quality -- really nails the casino feel better than plain felt imo. The layout is small enough to not require a stick as explained in the FAQ section of the site. At first i was skeptical about the foam parts of the set but for my needs it is totally usable and higher quality than I expected. I'm mostly just wanting to teach friends and do some small-stakes gambling with them from time to time so getting a full sized table would have been total overkill.

This is exactly what I had in mind, thanks for sharing. Repurposing the dining table is a great solution. Looks like the foam does a good job of randomizing the dice too.

Yeah, it's a great piece of equipment and Scott (the creator) is exceptionally helpful; will personally answer any questions very promptly by text and a very knowledgeable craps dealer too. The black layout looks fantastic too imo
