@Mr Tree , thanks. How do you suggest oiling the face of the chips?

Just excited. My first true custom set

There's probably people with better technique than me. I took a barrel full in a hand and did a quick swipe around the whole edge. I know others will tell you that's all that's needed burnt also then did a pass on each side of the face.

The key really is it doesn't take a lot of oil. You don't want them weeping oil for months!

The only time I've oiled the face of chips was for solid hotstamps. I've only oiled the edges of my customs w/ inlays.

I think I will just oil the edges. Maybe the sides of the front of a few of the chips for the family portrait. Otherwise I'll let the game action take care of the rest.

Because of the texture of the faces you don't really need oil on the face IMO. Maybe before oiling use a fine soft toothbrush to brush out any dust caught in the fdl.
