Feeling better about my upgrade to locking lug nuts!
Actually...found out first hand that locking lug nut removal can be faster and add to repair costs than standard lug nuts.
Instead of using the tire iron to unscrew a lug nut, they insert the flat end of the tire iron between the luck nut and wheel then step on it shearing the wheel stud.
After all four wheels were stolen from my car leaving me four sheared wheel studs, I learned. If someone wants your wheels, they’ll take them.
PS Sorry about the theft.
A cheap throw away socket from Harbor Freight gets them off super fast too. I bought a car back in the day that had wheel locks but no lug nut key. Hammer it 1/4 to 1/2 half on the locking lug nut and they come right off. Best to get 4 of them so you don't have to worry about getting the socket off the lug nut later on. I would get new lug nuts anyway.
