I picked up some Resorts World $2's via PCF for conversion to $20's in a mixed casino house mold set. Upon label removal #1, I found a bit of a surprise - a fat blue slug of chip in the middle of what I expected to be peach through-and-through. Anyone see anything like this before? What's going on here? Left-over blue clay? Saving that good peach clay?!

(P.S. The labels come off very cleanly!)

My guess would be to save the peach color but I have no clue.
I was also thinking it could be to either use an excess of blue material/save peach material. Blue and white are probably the colors of the highest stock so if they had excess lying around why not use it.

I originally though maybe it's b/c the label adheres better to blue than peach. But after reading through this, it could be weight and/or supply issues. Either way, that's awesome! It's like when you crack an egg and 2 yolks come out.

My first guess was RFID because changing out the center's color would just be a needless expense, and I've seen RFID chips with similar color switches in the center, but it would make no sense for them to use RFID on a $2 chip, so I really don't have a solid idea.

I think Resorts World did RFID on all chips

Well in that case it's just the RFID encasement. The RFID chip is encased in a plastic covering, and then that is further covered in one half of a round clay disk so that it can be inserted into a punched-out section of the chip. The color blue was probably just chosen because of what was mentioned above; it is a common color and they likely had overflow from another order.

It appears that even the $1 chip is RFID chipped.

“Resorts World Las Vegas will be the first casino resort to introduce “Smart Table,” which will use RFID embedded chips for every dollar denomination to provide 100% accuracy of guests’ gaming activity. This innovative and ground-breaking solution ensures guests receive the most accurate recognition through the resort’s loyalty program.”

... wait a second.

That means the Resort World chips are METAL SLUGGED !!!!
Finally some official casino weight casino chips!

Wait, so are all the denoms blue on the inside, or are there different colors inside the 1s, for example?
