Ranch Agave Porch Pirate Fundraiser (1 Viewer)

Maybe we should keep a running charity pool for everyone that gets fucked over on a purchase
maybe we should create our own mutual fund and self insure. Add like 1.5% to the purchase price for all transactions initiated via pcf to go into a fund that members can claim against in the unlikely event of a loss. Im sure @MC_CPA can do the modelling and work out the figure required to make it feasible.

With the thousands of members on here a $10 a month fee to cover douch canoes that steal your stuff from your property or other uninsured events I'd be in. Hell $5 a month per member would likely be enough.

(I have a somewhat similar situation—without the asshole theft component—where I (re)shipped a package to some Aussie members in November, worth a decent amount and it got rerouted to a different country and hasn’t been returned to me or delivered in 3 months. Holding out hope that it will eventually show up somewhere but I feel really bad that people may be both out a big chunk of change and have no chips to show for it.)
Nah those tight asses deserve to eat that loss.
Ive been telling them for ages to stop using USPS and only use UPS or FEDEX.:p

Plus they're international chippers. They are already used to all risk & responsibility transfered to the purchaser once its received by the shipping company. :wtf::sneaky::cool

Any type of paid community PCF insurance would get abused. There would be no checks and balances. People could fake a problem as easy if not easier than scamming. It’s called fraud lol

Unfortunately this is a direct cost to the hobby…lost mail, theft, scams, chips showing up not in the condition you thought they were etc.

For those generous enough to contribute, please include your username and the acronym LCRF (Lost Chips Relief Fund) in the payment notes.

For example: “horseshoez - LCRF”

I receive multiple payments to that account on behalf of several different chippers, so including both helps me clearly identify who the payment is from and what it is for.

Thank you all. It is truly appreciated.

I did include my user name in the comment of my donation.

How about we just be adults and ship responsible and provide safe spots for shipments? I’m not paying for others stupidity or lack of planning. It’s a scary world out there with no safety nets. Act appropriately.

It was shipped to his house and some dbag trespassed and stole it. I didn't have it shipped to a mall with my fingers crossed that it would some how find him before it was taken.

Somehow this point isn't being read or has been missed. I didn't have it delivered to a busy location in the public. It was stolen. Packaging and carrier of choice here didn't matter. I've had packages delivered and arrived a half hr after to retrieve them. The thief needed 60 seconds. They might have been following the Canada Post truck.

You're both right, criminals are going to criminal. But why are we relying on a reshipper that "isn't in the safest part of town with lots of crime and homelessness"? It sounds like a known issue. I'm not doubting Matrix he stepped up and helped lots of people but shipping to him sounds like an expected risk. You're saying you didn't have it delivered to a busy location in the public, but that may be much safer than a not-so-busy area with lots of crime and no cameras!

I live in suburbia and am still wary of packages to my porch. I know its too late now but when I lived in a tougher part I paid for a box to ship to so I would have peace of mind around wedding registry items and the like.

I'm sorry it happened, the thief sucks but we need to be more careful when the chips are worth a used car.

I didn't know at the time that this was the case.

Another update
$2460 goal

$285.70 Canadian is roughly $200 USD

$815 plus a barrel of T500 ($120 value)

Leaves $1030 to go. If I'm mathing right today.

There may be an option we haven't considered.

Most homeowner's insurance policies in the United States cover the value of stolen mail above the deductible. (Not sure if Canadian companies do this.)

If the policy deductible is $500, in this case coverage would be $2,700 - $500 = $2,200 paid by homeowner's insurance to the package recipient, where it was stolen. The insurance company may have requirements or coverage caps,

Questions here are: 1) Does the recipient have that coverage? 2) What's the deductible? 3) Is the recipient willing to file a claim?

Meanwhile, you may have a tough time convincing your insurance company that the real-world value any poker chips is $2,700. But it's worth looking into.

@MatrixExplosion any possiblity of this?

I'd think/hope that proof of the payment amount from the buyer of the chips would be sufficient to convince, since that's an actual transaction and not just an evaluation of what the chips might have been worth (say if they were not sold but simply stolen).
