New member here and new to poker chips. I like the sound that the Rancho Agave Paulson THC chips make when shuffled. To me it sounds “duller” than other Paulson chips I’ve been able to test (shout out to @Gus for lending me a chip sample set). I was surprised that other Paulson THC that are hot stamped didn’t have the same sound. I got some additional Paulson THC samplers from Mother Lode Card Room and Oceanview Poker Room that looked similar to the Rancho Agave’s but sounded quite a bit more "higher pitched" to me.

So, I’m wondering if people can explain to me why similar looking Paulson THC, both hot stamped and in similar condition, sound so different.

More importantly, I’m looking for recommendations from folks of other Paulson chips that sound like the Rancho Agave when shuffled.

Thanks.

Yeah, you have leaded vs unleaded vs partially leaded.
You have long cane version THCs vs short cane version THCs vs LCV on one side and SCV on the other.
You have THCs with a recess vs THCs without a recess (which I think corresponds to hot stamp vs inlaid, which may also correspond to SCV vs LCV but I’m really not sure.).
And of course you have factory vs overlabel vs murdered.
And there are also THCs from that other company whose name slips my mind, with the shiny hats.

Not all THCs are equal. So many differences that can all affect sound.

Don't forget clay color. White leaded (ie Aztar $1s) chips shuffle and sound better than almost any other THCs in existence IMO, closely followed by leaded petunia. Something to do with the color formula, lead content, weight, the way the material polishes with wear...

Textured vs smooth inlays also sound different (SCV vs LCV).

And also wear level matters a lot, new chips sound different than slightly used than very used etc.
