I don't agree with this practice. I've seen some games here latlla where 3 people raise and re-raised each other... Just to get table to fold ... Then check it down the whole way... I believe this is cheating... In a innocent way... Yet still cheating... When one person wins ... The cut the money up and no more money is bought back in to ripen the game... I feel this is bad for the game.... And stains the soul of poker .

Are you saying two players bet big against each other, then check it down once they get heads up, then chop the money, presumably splitting blinds and early limper money? Huh?

Not sure I’m following this correctly. If that happened in a game I was in, I’d flip over the table. If they did that and one person won.. well.. weird... but chopping (cutting the money up), well pretty shady and clearly collusion.

Yes split the money... Bet
.. raise... Then reraise ... Everyone folds... They check and chop
Sounds like a limit game. Its the very scenario you described that has most casinos capping raises at 4 if more than 2 people are in the pot. Its also the reason you can call to see both hands flipped over at showdown. Its definitely cheating.

Edit: This scenario is so over the top Ive got to ask where the hell you would find a game this stupid and enough dumb players to fill the seats?

This is collusion (also called cheating)

Nothing innocent about this. I would report it to the gaming board if it wasn’t a home game. Actually chopping the pot in front of the table, sounds more like a bad movie then an actual live game.

Under ground game... I called it out and they said pot partners are normal... I said keep ur game... I'm out

Pot partners?

I’d ask WTF is that? And then say unless you’re talking about people taking a break toggether and go smoke a blunt, it’s cheating.

But seriously, I'd leave if it wasn't my game, and kick the players out if it was. 100% cheating.

Agree it’s against rules, and if they allow this there could definitely be other stuff going on. Don’t play this game.

But just for thought...couldn’t one exploit them pretty badly if it’s that obvious? Slow play the goods and get all kinds of action from a weak hand. Great pot odds to draw to, etc etc

Classic collusion. Kneecap ‘em.

Collusion is used to describe any cooperation between two or more players, for the purposes of pooling and splitting money after the game, revealing any of their cards to each other, using table talk, using gestures as signals, using betting schemes or soft playing.

Possibly, but I suspect they stop the raise/partner crap when everybody doesn't fold. Might pick up a bet or two with the nutz, but it won't be enough to compensate for the folds.

Collusion is certainly the least sinister cheating that goes down at "underground poker clubs." Best bet is stay away entirely.

You can’t chop a pot if there’s been action, right? Only chop when folded around to blinds?

Yeah, this is just wrong.

I'd cash out immediately, and demand anything that I lost to the "Pot partners" back. If they refused, I'd ask politely about their security measures. I can't guarentee that I would get my money back, but I can guarentee they would not make it home.

If you tried to threaten this place it sounds like you may not take the rest of yours home either. I think I'd be happy to leave with what remained of my money

It is cheating.

You called it out and they said cheating is normal.

You were right to leave.

Who's rules? If the 'house' allows it, it isn't against the rules.

For minor variations, sure, it's just house rules.

This violates the basic rules of poker that make it poker. The 'house' can call it something other than poker, but if they call it poker, then what they're allowing is called "cheating."

OK, new "House" rule at the Fat Tire Poker Room, if the host is in a pot, and has gone all in, if he wins the pot, he scoops... If he loses the hand, he chops the pot with the winning hand.

I like where this is going. ;)

but seriously, my "host scoops" rule is about a ludicrous (and cheating) as the "pot partners" rule, lol.
