Polyclay Custom Molds (4 Viewers)

Ceramics are very hard, and wear very slowly even with heavy non-stop casino usage. It takes years of casino use to wear down ceramics, and the dye-sub printed ink will wear off long before the base chip itself shows any significant wear, especially to a debossed image. They should easily hold up to decades of home use conditions.

I probably should have said chip instead of wear.

Both would likely apply to debossed hybrids -- base chips randomly printed (in relation to the debossed images), and printed labels aligned with the printed elements as the defaults.

Interesting.

I'm interested if the appeal changes with a relatively symmetrical and what to my mind is simple and clean design if the molds are not symmetrical.

As always thanks for the incredible level of detail and sharing.

Like THC mold chips, the mold markings are usually not a dominate part of the 'look' unless the chips are solid colors. Once you start adding other design features and colors, the eye is typically pulled in other directions

Unless this goes sideways, count me in.

Not to distract from the possible GB, but do you know if the free use by the original artists extends to the art done by @RiffRaffRandy who hasn't posted in 2 years?

Just saw this thread. I think both the four suits and the five star would be nice. Not sure one is better or worse.

edit. If the detail is possible maybe a tri-star? stars in a triangle array at each embossed.

The lines would be debossed.
Then I’d probably make the lines slightly thicker, and make the distance from the edges of the “mold” to the edge of the recess and the edge of the chip equal, because it feels asymmetrical right now.

Here is an old mock-up of the Four Suits logo as a custom polyclay mold:

And a mock-up as a custom polyclay mold with outer ring (which would be similar if making it a hybrid mold, with a slightly smaller recessed center):

And below are the existing 39mm polyclay designs produced by Sun-Fly -- I think the four suits logo and diamond image are similar in complexity. On a 43mm hybrid mold, the Four Suits logo would be larger than the diamond and cards images:

Sorry, but all I can visualize is these with labels. It’s like the pooping penguin Sorry
