Bridge or Poker Size

Really though? For a skilled hands this should make no difference.

I would not be surprised if casinos are using bridge sized cards only because in bulk buy they are cheaper; and after time this become “standard”. But I can be wrong as well.
I was a dealer, supervisor and trainer for several years. Bridge size DEFINITELY makes a huge difference to deal.
And no, bridge size cards are not cheaper than poker size cards. Additionally, the cards used in the poker rooms are full plastic/acetate, rather than the plastic covered cards used on the gaming floor.
And poker sized cards are used on the gaming floor. Where they go through multiple decks per day.

centre deal… the only deal that was never used by any card sharp ever; it’s not valid test to run. I honestly would struggle more to do bottom deal with bridge cards than poker.

But this isn’t usual deal, if you’re dealing cards as you should size of cards absolutely does not matter.
Deal some cards for 8 hours. Every day. 5 days per week. Then tell me that the size of cards absolutely does not matter.

Ok you’re having experience on your hands, hats off!

Hover, I’m just simple engineer, I’m holding tools for 12h four times a week. But I’m amateur magician or I should say pseudo gambling demonstrator, kinda obsessed with cards, on days off I’m handling cards as much as I can, deck always in my pocket. I have hundreds of hours practicing on me. I will use all sorts of decks from well used bikes to overpriced fountains but also bridge size Waddingtons ( crude and stiff as hell) as they’re still most popular and wildly available cards in Uk and whatever else you can get, only cards ill stay away are plastic cards; they’re simply shite.

I’ll still will claim that size make no difference in terms of hands fatigue. I never thought “Cor i wish to back to bridge to avoid cramps in hands”

I know this will come down to personal preferences.

I had never heard of Bridge size, until I found this place, and started watching @Chris Manzoni . I prefer them now. It might just be because of the novelty of them, though. Still working on getting the guys I play with to come around. They like Poker sized.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess the mechanics in magic are a little different than pitching 3000 cards or so a day in a poker room. But I will note you are digging into the opinion here.

Also, I would also assume there are probably reasons for magicians to prefer wider cards as well.

Magic approach and gambling approach is quite different and this’s something we’re working on. Do your “moves” but aim for 100% natural looks.

Yes, since poker size is bigger everything looks nicer, more elegant. Bridge cards will let you conceal more. If you’re having hand size 5 ( in gloves term measurement) yes go for bridge.

Yes scaling cards across the table is not something that causing much of a trouble. Even for magician

I used to practice magic (was a member of the SAM and FISM at one point in my life).

The positions your hands are in for doing cardistry, and for dealing properly, casino style, are not the same. In magic, your hands are always doing new things. In casino, you are doing the exact same thing, over and over, for 8 to 10 (or 12) hour shifts.

I've also dealt double deck blackjack, which you hold 2 decks worth of poker size cards. I'm not saying it's not possible. I'm just saying that after having extensive EXPERIENCE, bridge size makes a massive difference.

And please don't try to tell me that holding tools is the same as holding cards. Unless you are holding the exact same tool, for the full shift, every day. With no variance.

Again, you can make all the claims you want. I worked with several hundred other dealers. I taught dealers. Bridge size wins out over poker size for dealing.

The majority of people that say "POKER SIZE IS FOR POKER" don't even realize that card rooms across North America, use bridge size.

tools are not cards, my point was my hands are quite tired after my shifts but I’m still capable to hold deck and do stuff efficiently.

Ok, so looks like bridge size was incorporated only to makes dealers life easier ( and I’m not saying this in mean disrespectful way) not for comfort of players of because of value of decks.

Play poker in any major AC or Vegas card room and you will only see bridge. Probably 99% of poker rooms in the US. That’s a clue. Bridge cards are much more comfortable to deal (and I have size large hands) than poker.

Also there is 0.0000% chance they use them because they are cheaper. They aren’t cheaper for anyone to buy. They use them because professional dealers are dealing cards for hours on end.
