Poker game legality... (7 Viewers)

Now what are they really going to do for a home game as long as you arent taking a rake and its a social game?!
If it's not legal -- or even questionably legal -- they''ll throw your ass in jail, confisicate all of the equipment and cash, and let the judge sort it out. Ask @brains613.

I live near Nashville, TN. Bars in the area host free poker tournaments with a prize of a gift card. One near me also had a cash games for people that busted out of the tournament. I played once and it was .25/.25, but I heard they would do 1/1 if people wanted. We heard that some other bars in the are got in fines for having cash games, so they ended that at our bar. They still have the tournament for gift cards, but the cash game is done. I never saw anything in the news, so I don't think any arrests occurred.
I have spent my fair share of time in Nashville through the years for work. That is where I caught the poker bug actually. Used to play in the free games at The Beer Cellar (Downtown) on Mon./Wed. nights and The Corner Bar (Vandy) Tues./Thurs. That was back in 2007. Haven’t tried since then to see if it’s still going. Where do you play?

I live in Spring Hill that is about 30 mins south of downtown Nashville. I've only played at one place in Spring Hill, but I know about some bars in Nashville and other cities in the area. I have kids, so getting out for poker night at a bar doesn't happen for me often.

Ask the police. They are here to help you with questions like that.

Yes, the police would, in fact, be required to tell you the law in any situation where you might ask, and on a recorded line, too. Your state attorney general's office, or district attorney, depending on where you live, is an even better source. They would be immediately aware of any very recent changes to the law, and any opinions issued by judges or prosecutors about whether they would enforce certain laws.

There is a state-by-state list on the Key West site which is a good starting point, though I always recommed calling your state AG or DA.
