It looks to me that the thread on controversial opinions must have been moved to the political section, but I haven't seen any notice of that diversion. However, there must be such opinions that are not inherently political. Here's one that gnaws at me, and has since the days when we had grab boxes being circulated among the membership:

Single chip sellers and collectors are the enemies of playable set builders and collectors, both in general, and here on PCF.

Hell, in the long term, people who sell singles from their sets are their own enemies.

Similarly, but to a lesser degree, mixed set builders are the enemies of single-casino set builders.

It's surprising that all these groups intermingle on PCF without rancor...or maybe this is the rancor. :cool

I have thoughts!
Having built racks and even sets, one chip at a time (and they cost much more than a dime,) I have to salute the singles collectors, oddballs that they are. If people hadn’t been collecting singles over the years, sets like the stunning Foxwoods THC set wouldn’t exist, because those chips would have been destroyed with the rest of them. So in some ways, singles collectors of the past have been the lifeblood of this hobby, at least for me.

On the other hand, single chips sellers who refuse to sell in quantity are weird. Some singles sellers are great - I’ll reach out to them asking for all they have and they’ll give me a pile at a discount - I send them a bunch of cash, win-win! Others won’t give me a discount, but they will sell them all at once so I still save a TON on shipping - again, win-win! But those guys who refuse, or won’t even respond to the message, and just continue listing single chips on eBay week after week? Weirdos.
