Pelican Cases 60-65% off (1 Viewer)

I made room for 800 chips. Three racks on the second layer and five on the top. A slot for a card set up and another slot for two single decks to fit on top of each other. Had to use the foam that I plucked out to lay on the chips when they're being transported. This way they don't shake around as much when being moved.

So, I got a Pelican case for myself over the holidays. Now what? I just start plucking out foam? I'm nervous.
Just start plucking???

Measure thrice, cut once. Then start plucking. Conservatively at first.

I'm looking to buy a pelican case that will fit 500-600 chips (5-6 racks I guess) and 20 plaques.
The 1510 looks too big and is really expensive for me ($270 CAD roughly).
Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of which models would be appropriate for my needs?

I got this one for Christmas after doing lots of looking. Pelican 1495 Laptop case.

$145 USD = 190 CAD?

I haven't made the commitment to plucking the foam, but it will only fit one stack of racks as it is not so deep (which is what I wanted). And I think the outside of the case looks cool. Pics show a tentative layout fitting 6 racks nicely I think with a little room for extras.

Looks great. I've been eyeing the 1495 for a while.
I did read somewhere on this site, advice against leaving foam between the racks, because apparently those narrow strips of foam won't hold up over time.

What are those cards again? Really nice design.

I'm sure you are right and a single 1cm square layer of this softer polyurethane foam could break down with significant removal and replacing racks. But, I don't expect that really to be a major issue for me, and the question is how many "ins and outs" does it start to matter? 100? 1000? How likely am I to reach that? Not likely for me.

I considered getting a custom foam insert from mycasebuilder.com (and may still). They can make one for this specific case for $90 USD. Or you can get the whole case and foam from them for $280 http://www.mycasebuilder.com/p-1495-custom-foam-case.html . But I'd rather buy the case cheaper on amazon and order separately if necessary.

And you can go with the sturdier polyethylene foam, which I saw @RainmanTrail used for his Wynn set and Seahorse case and has a nicer look to it as well IMO.

I don't have one yet but for Canadians there's also Nanuk cases. They changed their website recently and I don't see any prices anymore so you'd have to ask, but could be cheaper.

Perhaps worth noting is that if you mess up the pick-n-pluck foam, you can always order another insert. They're relatively inexpensive.

Here's how I ended up laying it out in the pelican 1495. Just FYI for those who want single layer for around 600 chips.

Question. Is there enough room to lay out 6 racks (with no spaces between) along the backside?
