Pelican Cases 60-65% off (1 Viewer)

Ooooh, I'm in the market! Which case should I get???

I'd go back over some of the pelican case threads here to get a sense on what each case is best used for, how many chips, etc... :)

I only checked the history of one of them, but it's priced lower today than ever, on amazon. So if you need a pelican, today's the day. Good find.

If I recall correctly, the general consensus was the 1510. It has wheels which are a big plus, it is carry-on sized and it can be configured in a number of ways to easily hold up to 2000 chips. TexRex had one configured for 1000 chips: http://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/case-for-transporting-chips.4085/#post-20084

Very tempting at this price.

[EDIT]: Just ordered the 1510. Free shipping, but sales tax in NY. Still, only $115!

:) right, had Dave and I stayed up late battling it out, I'd have been too tired to find this deal, for sure...

I'm also looking at one of the smaller cases for a small traveling set.

the 1170 looks interesting.

Christ you guys....!! now you got me over researching poker chip cases on ThanksGiving morning....

Some good deals indeed, HOWEVER, the "You save $ or %" (60-65%) is not really a good representation of reality. If one googles prices for those cases, the retail price in all stores is already way below MRSP. It's still a good discount but more around 20-25% than what's been advertised.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thanks for the HU! I got a 1510, not even sure why lol...

Mine shipped--will be here tomorrow! Now, I need to get 12-16 4x25 racks w/ lids....

And btw, it is better to use the 4x25 racks with lids rather than regular casino racks for one reason: if you only want to pack fewer chips than you have room for, the lidded boxes can take up unneeded space. If you use regular casino racks, and don't fill it up, chips will slosh around.

Example: I plan on having space for 1600 chips. But let's say I'm taking my chips to a game and only need 800...using the lidded boxes I can keep the empties in the case, securely holding all the boxes with chips in place.

Gopher, before you cut the foam, I suggest you put 16 boxes with chips in the case to see how heavy it is. With 1000 chips, mine weighs in the neighborhood of 50 lbs.It would weigh closer to 65 lbs. with another 600 chips in it.

I've bought dozens of cases from Discount Casino Gear. They are not of uniform size, so I've found it necessary to label tops and bottoms so you can match them up, but all have worked just fine.

I got one too. But I haven't yet had the courage to pluck foam.
