speaking of fail....

I did a double take gulp on your 'tasting room' thread...... once i realized what Chateau de Noix actually meant...... I feel violated now, like a forlorn teabagger....

I'm surprised I was able to keep that a secret as long as I did. I'm not as stuffy as the chips make me appear. For instance, my favorite movie is Boyz in the Hood. :D :cautious:

Funny thing is, I've always known about your House of Nutz chip sets (although not the backstory). Just never put two plus two together regarding the CdN chips. Obv wasn't a language arts major....

me either, I used google translate.

Wheels have begun turning. Working through the logistics now. I'm asking for a lot on these chips and we may have to be creative to get it done.

Nice. Looking forward to the mocks. No pressure or anything, but these have a lot to live up to in order to reside next to your other set.

Take your time but hurry up.:D

Definitely have some stuff to work through. John has informed me that the level of detail on the racing vignettes I want to do is outside of his ability. We are exploring the possibility of having a graphics artist render racing scenes and John putting the rest of the elements together around it but that might not work out so I may have to rethink some of the idea.

Well its such a cool and meaningful theme and honestly can't wait to see what you come up with. I have the luxury of sitting back and enjoying the show.

So I have an artist! The plan is I am going to have her render the car/cars for each chip and then we will drop it as an element on the chip face and have John do everything else (font, denom, background colors and any other effects) around her art. For the dealer button I have her making a full fledged scene.

She is working on it now. A couple of inspiration shots I sent her

Was in an old storage folder for something very unrelated and found another picture of my father's car.

"It sure is peaceful" would make a great tag line. What a great quote....

The Desoto Speedway is within a few miles of my house. I'm sure your father must have raced there.

That's the idea. No overt vulgarity. Subtle, like a fine wine lingering on your palate - the punchline is delivered.

So I just had the weirdest piece of serendipity smack me square in the face.

I received a phone call from my sister today (who had no idea about this project.) we have tried before to find more info on dad's racing career with virtually no success. Out of the blue today she was contacted by a gentleman who had heard she was looking for information on Buddy Jones and was in the sports media in the '60s. Apparently this guy has mountains of articles, pictures, and video of my father racing. The timing considering I am working on this project is absolutely mind blowing to me. She promised she will pass everything on to me when she gets it so I will share anything cool here as well.

I am stunned right now.

That's your chip karma paying big dividends. (y)

Really cool stuff. Apparently his car sold for $200,000 at auction. Can't wait to see everything he sends.

I am so shocked right now it isn't funny.

Ok I misunderstood part of what she had said. This guy wasn't media he was a rep from Crane Cams and was a friend of my father's. Pics are incoming but it sounds like video is unlikely. Also some cool information on the car including full specs.

I've "liked" all of your posts today. Might be the avatar though. Not allowed to change it.

So here are a bunch of pictures I have never seen before. Also some of them have descriptions of the race in question! I have included the notes in the words of the gentleman who sent them.

""Buddy vs Thunderbolt" was Masters Field, Miami. That was at NW 27th Avenue and 119 Street. It was a Marine Air Corps airfield. Later became Miami-Dade Jr. College North and a large industrial complex. This is the '64 Plymouth.

That car was a special option called a "Max Wedge", 426 cubic inch, 425 hp, two four-barrel carburetors on a factory cross-ram intake manifold. It had the special all aluminum front end, a minimal interior (for less weight) and came from Detroit with a set of Ramchargers tube steel headers in the trunk. These were to be installed by the new owner, or by the dealership that sold or took delivery on the car."

"Second "Buddy vs Arnie Beswick" was shot at Valkaria Dragway. This was an inactive WW-II airfield. It remains there today, but is now an active airfield referred to as a "General Aviation" airport, for privately owned aircraft. Valkaria is near Melbourne, on the East Coast. There were many races held there in the 60's and Buddy ran there many times."

Here are the other photos he sent without notes:
