Opinions on my Pokemon theme chips? (1 Viewer)

If it'd be me, I think it'd be cool to have gasly as the hundo and then only use the first pokemon in its evo line.

Personally, I would also go with a full Gen-I theme, and then Mankey would be on my white chip. And for the 500 ditto ahah. 2 of my favs Pokémon.

Gen 2 is nice too. After that, there is no other Pokémon for me ahah.

Cool project !

I thought about Gastly but I wasn't sure how to fit the number. Plus I was thinking if I could get holographic on my chips I would use Gastly.

I was trying for only Gen 1 but I couldn't find anything that goes well with black so I picked Unknown for that reason.

But these are basic examples to give a Pro. I am hoping I can get a Pro designer to make a more uniform inlay for each of them.

Actually I am thinking of switching Growlithe and Scyther to Charmander/ Charmeleon and Bulbasaur/ Ivysaur. But I am not sure.

Thanks.

Bulbasaur, Charmander, would make it too "mainstream" imho.
Growlithe is my favourite pokemon though.

Ya that was my thinking when I was first picking the pokemon. Cute for the 1, 5, 1000, & 5000. And more nuance on the 25, 100, & 500. But I am trying to find something better than Scyther. There aren't many green based Pokemon in Gen 1. I am a big fan of Nepenthes but I am not sure if Victreebel will work. Too much yellow.

This idea look really interesting to me

Personally, for the pink chip I would go with this dude

(You're pink take is really good too, I just really like slowpoke : D)

It could work, but it's gonna need some work. These will be a dirty stack nightmare. But there's a ton of room to knock these out of the park.

No bulba, squirtle, or charmander? I suppose that’s a matter of opinion and what pokemon speak to you.

If it were me:

White - Snorlax
Red - Charmander, Charizard or Moltres
green - Bulba or Venisaur.
Black - tough one… with the right edge spots I’m thinking Gengar
Purple - mew or mewtu
Yellow - pikachu, zapitos, or dragonite
Blue - squirtle, Blastoise or artiquino
Pink - mew, mewtu or Jigglypuff
Orange - dragonite

Chips look cool, I dig it.

Are you looking at my first set of chips for being dirty stack nightmare? Because I just updated it a couple of days ago. And I thought these would be more distinct to avoid the dirty stack issue.

@davesilver88 I though about those for red or green but I thought they were to main stream and high tier for such low denoms like 5 & 25. Ya Black is hard since there are not many black pokemon in Gen 1. but I like you choices.

yea i see what you mean. im just thinking of who i would choose based on personal attachment, popularity, strength, etc. You should probably choose the pokemon that you like best that fit the color - so if that's what you got already, than good and i hope it works out.

one additional thought came to mind about who i listed. if i were to put charmander on the red, than i would probably want bulba, squirtle, pikachu on the other respective colors. and if i choose charizard or moltres, i would want the other evolved forms / legendary birds.

I think you're definitely better off going with ceramics where you can print over the whole chip face. I would also consider doing your denominations on the edges so they aren't overlaid over the Pokemon art. Doing it with the pixel art could be cool as well. I threw together a mockup but left out edge spots, could easily be added.

@springbox , very nice idea the pokerdollar sign !
And if we a more specific theme is needed, there is also the Rocket Casino in RBY games !

This kinda reminds me of the Super Poker World chips on here. If anyone wants to make a set based on those go ahead (not that you needed my permission). I would be interested.

I was also thinking of making the inlays based on the Pokemon Mafia. Something like Team Rocket's Mafia Casino. But I am still working on it.

This is amazing, I want to preorder a set now please!!

Cash and Tournament set lol

Definitely like the denominations on the outside of the chip (as to not interrupt the art).

I haven't played around with the mockups but are you able to add shadows/outlines to the text? Might bring out the numbers a little better

could i make a request that you get these designed and a group buy up soon, so i can get a set, pretty please

These would be great in no mold with sublimation on the entire chips, with the dollar amount as shown above

I am not a Photoshop person. I plan on asking a pro to make the inlay better. But I don't plan on using the edges for the denomination. If you want you are more than welcome to make your own design (not that you need my permission). Having the number on the edges reminds me of the super world poker chips.

These will not be publicly available. Only the edgespots will be allowed as blanks. Not my inlays.

I don't care what you make and when but I need a sample set of these for my nephew when you do.
Ceramic would be my top choice but would buy any type you make.

I love the theme, but the denoms on top of the characters hurt the look in my opinion. I do agree with one respondent, that the denominations should be separated from the character.

could we do smaller denominations:
0.1
0.25

Im thinking of small stakes games!

Plus I really want to get these made lol
