Ello. I'm in the process of designing my custom set. It will be L Crown, and it will be tropical. Looking for some inspiration on old school spot progression or any pr0n. All ideas welcome. Grazie

I love this. But can not steal from my guy @Sprouty like that haha
The top version is something I made ages ago. 2nd proof I just swapped what would be the hundo. Maybe just inspiration. I tried looking at actual casinos that used Large Crown chips back in the day, but I primarily only saw 2 edge spots or maybe a 1/4 pie, but that's it. Most of what was used back in the days were solid chips.

Yeah I looked on chip guide and most L Crowns are solid. I definitely would like to have spots hahaha. I'm open to options but going cpc and doing solids doesn't seem like I'd be doing the set justice. I don't even want a solid frac for that reason haha

There’s a few different types of old school sets imo.
All 314 which of course doesn’t have any progression but could use 414 for the upper denoms
Many classic Cali sets use a 3d14/3d14/3d14/3ta316(or equivalent) progression.
Also solid/solid/single spot color 3d14/414 feels very old school to me. West world and THC Tropicana sets both do this IIRC edit: these two are also both hot stamped

I still wanna keep it semi old school progression wise I feel like it loooks better on L crown that way

Yeah these are all super nice. I would love to do one that progresses per chip even if its just a simple progression. I also wonder if even like 4d14 is too "modern" for the L crown. maybe not but im just thinking out loud haha. It'll be caribbean tropical, not sure if that helps at all haha

How many denoms total?
Have tried doing something similar in the past but never quite love my results.
I’ve tried 1d14/2d14/3d14/4d14/614
114/214/314/414/614
112/212/312/412
Etc, etc.
Feel like others have pulled it off but I’d rather have a simpler progression for that old school look I.e. solid/314/314/314/414 or something similar.
@gopherblue Vesper Club set is a simple all 314 pattern and feels like it came from an illegal card club of the 40s to me
I find 312s so much more interesting than 314s. I’m no historian though.

Me either, just going off memory of what I’ve seen. For some reason I’ve never cared much for the progression from 112–>412 or an all 312 set for some reason.

Love those vesper clubs, but I wouldn't say it's got an illegal card club feel. Not sure what the feel would be tbh hahaha. Would be easier if I posted the inlay but I'm trying to be strong and wait til I got it all figured out hahaha

I'm guessing you're going to use the unweighted bright colours for the bases?
If you use White anywhere, go for the Bright White instead.

It will most likely be:
- TBD for frac
- Yellow for $1 (prob DG, but maybe canary. Depends. There is a purpose for a yellow dollar)
- Retro Red $5
- Regular Green $25
- Black or charcoal $10”
A lot of those base colours are darker than you'd think. Use big bright edge spots, or consider 1/2 and 1/4 pie.

They are dark but the she spots will indeed be large and bright
well that’s the goal at least haha. I even mocked up a 1/4 pie only cash set haha. Just not sure if it fits.
