Okku's Historical Casino Videos & Random Fun Stuff (8 Viewers)

Another great video Oscar! I have a handful of singles but never a true set.

I did however make a semi-custom tribute set on the Tower & Spear China clays and dealer buttons. You can read about that set here.

I was playing around with the idea of making these on CPC scrowns but all quarter pies. To help visual this I put labels on some Kings Crowns.

Also, dice are nice!

Those customs look really nice! Love the dice and sample set as well! I should try and get the 50 cent, $1, and $5 soon. I know that $500 is going to cost a little bit of money.

First things first, thank you all for the support on all of the videos, the feedback and the love that everyone shows it's incredible. I recently passed 1K subs on my channel. It's been so much fun this past year trying to upload every other day. Meeting so many new people in this community and sharing everything that I've learned, my chips and the history behind some of our favorite casinos. Thank you again!

With Windwalker's recent Great Anniversary Purge here on PCF, I decided to take a shot at trying to figure out the barrel and hopefully have a chance at getting one of those Golden Tickets! I had lots of optimism going into this and I started out pretty strong. Using PCF and Chip Guide as a resource I tried my best to figure out these chips by just looking at the base color of the chip and the edge spots. Some of these chips I had never seen before and some of them I've seen plenty of times in person so I had an idea of what it was. It took me a few hours the first night when I started and then probably another 30 minutes into the next morning and I decided to go with my answers. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get all of them right, but I had a blast and that's all that matters!

Here's the video to see what I was thinking about, researching and what I figured out! Enjoy!

Next time leave the country, state and denom blank etc. Just search by color and mold. One of the reasons you missed the PDC.

Gotcha, gotcha. I was trying to be too specific for sure. Well you learn something new everyday and it'll be something to think about for next time.

Another tip when searching is to go to the thread you want to search and click the drop down from everywhere to "This thread" so search results will only be the posts by that individual in that thread only.

ooooooooooooooooooh, didn't even know you could do it like that. Wow, thanks for that information!

Today's topic of discussion came from a post by Darryl in the Casino Chip Collectors group on Facebook about a week ago. He was trying to find some information regarding the TR King $1 and $5 casino chips that were manufactured for the El Morocco. He was trying to figure out if they were really from 1964 or that wasn't the correct year since the club would end up closing in 1964. The original El Morocco was open from 1945 until 1955 and then would re-open in 1957 and close again in 1958. The New El Morocco at the same building and same location would open in 1959 and then would close in 1964. This brings up the discussion as the Small Crown $1 and $5 were ordered in 1964 when the New El Morocco was open and the El Morocco was closed. Ron made a good point that the "New" aspect of the El Morocco could have been a re-branding or a new generation in the life of the El Morocco entering a new era. Could be very true and I think he's got the right answer. Interesting topic though considering the chips were ordered in 1964, most likely the early half, since I've seen quite a few of those TRK chips being used and not super minty.

Today we explore the world of California collector chips! I think I've been missing out on some really nice looking chips because I've mainly only been collecting stuff from Nevada, but I think I'll start branching out to these other states because they truly do have some really nice looking stuff. California in general has had some of the most insane colors in their palette that I've ever seen. Popular clubs like the Flamingo Club, Gardena Club, Rainbow Club and so so so many more. We check out CaliChipKing.com and explore a little bit around PCF to see what kinds of goodies are online for us to see.

Have you ever wondered why baccarat chips are larger and oversized?? That's what we are talking about today! While conducting research I found quite a few articles and posts talking about the topic. It's an interesting thing because these oversized chips are generally exclusive to the baccarat tables and area inside of a casino. Many like MGM Grand, Caesars Palace, Riviera, Aladdin, Las Vegas Hilton and many others used to and still probably do have these exclusive oversized chips in their baccarat areas. So, why would they need to use the oversized chips?? Well, it's a thing of trying to discourage cheating, it adds a mystique and an aura to the baccarat area because they are playing with different chips than anyone else. Then, it also helps the dealers and everyone else know that generally they are playing with larger denomination chips. Larger the sized, larger the amount (not always the case). The Dunes for example had a $1k, $5k and then even larger $25k baccarat chips in the 80s/90s when they had the golf course inlays. On top of all these aspects, I know that there are tons of people who do collect these oversized chips. Although, not everyone likes them, I do that's for sure. They are unique and you are able to find some amazing odd-denomination chips like $20 chips! One person here on PCF that comes to mind is @Rbonus012 who has almost 140 different oversized 43mm chips! WOW.

Here's the link to the video, hope you enjoy and let me know your favorite oversized or baccarat chip!

Historically, I think baccarat (at least chemin de fer) was played with plaques. Traditionally, a secondary croupier would use a large paddle (or palette) to scoop the cards dealt by the dealer to be given to the active player, since the tables were often very large with up to 12 players seated around it (and the possibility of observers standing around the table to be part of the action as well). The palette would also be used to move bets around the table, and the spatula-like action required would make small, lightweight chips impractical to be scooped up and around.

Correct I believe it was mainly plaques and then jetons in the old days. Then they started to phase them out because they were harder to stack and so on. Chips then came into play and the plaques and jetons went away. Some people kept them like MGM and Paris, but not for long

I can't see traditional Chemin de Fer played outside of a high roller room unless wagers are capped at $1000 or less. Punto Banco is much less trouble in play (though big monetary risk to casino).

Some time in the future I plan to do a baccarat tribute plaque set based on the Les Ambassadeurs set in 1960s.

Hey!! I made the video! I was watching because it popped up on my YouTube feed and didn’t know I was in it lol.

You should have asked for some pictures! I could have hooked you up with some :)

Sweet video either way though!

Some of you know my favorite…… :ninja:
I may break down and post a wanted ad to get my 1-of-a-kind rack completed…….. :cool

Did you know that Formula One was hosted in Las Vegas before? Well it was, back in the years of 1981 & 1982 in the hot desert heat. Caesars Palace was the host and it took place in the parking lot. Drivers like Alain Prost, Alan Jones, Jacques Villeneuve, Keke Rosberg and many others raced at the incredible events. For the first year Paulson created chips to commemorate the event! There are 4 of the chips, all with different colors, inlay styles, edge spots and they are all very special. Pretty hard to find set as well, even though in the past year there have been a few sets sold on eBay. If you are a F1 fan, YOU NEED to have this set! It's incredible. The colors and everything about them is what everyone would ever want.

Here's the video! I hope you enjoy and have an amazing Friday!

Not casino or chip related stuff although it could possibly be if I do happen to find something while I'm here, but I'm in Finland for the next 3-4 weeks. Helping family out and then helping my sister move into university. I may possibly create some casino history or chip related stuff while I'm here, if I happen to see some things that I find interesting and should share with everyone. Just wanted to give a heads up for those of you who do watch the videos and this would be some different content that will be on my channel while I am here for vacation! Maybe, there is something that you'd like to see, so if there is let me know and I'll see what I can get up to!

Here's the quick video of the 1st day when we arrived here! Have a good one!

A key part of Finland is the sauna! Today's quick video show's me firing it up and getting it ready for use. I was a little rusty at it, but I did get it started and man was it nice! If you've never tried a sauna then you need to! The best thing in life.

Enjoy:

Today we go over part 2 of my parents vinyl record collection. The past few days we've been cleaning and going through stuff. This morning we found this second part of the collection! This one had records from bands like ZZ Top, Iron Maiden, KISS, Aerosmith, Queen, Whitesnake and so much more! Along with this I've been fishing, spending time on the water, visiting favorite places and made a record amount of trips to IKEA. The first two weeks of being here I think I went to IKEA about 7-8 times... which was a lot. Hope you guys enjoy and let me know which record is your favorite or if you listened to the same music as them!

I was not expecting to be getting a packaged while in Finland, but it did happen! @mipevi decided to send this over to me while I'm here in vacation and it's really appreciated. I now have a full World Trade Center sample set apart from the roulette chips and he also hooked it up with some awesome samples, customs, Starlite Cruises $2.50 as well as a PCF $5 NCV chip. Seriously can't thank him enough as well as the whole chip community that has been so generous to me and shown the same to others! Never would have expected a more welcoming and awesome community!

Enjoy!

You are very welcome! The Medium Greek Key chips are my custom chips from Blue Chip Company, stamped with one of their starburst dies. The set was ordered near the end of BCC, and the base colors are some of the TRK colors that they acquired by then (the brownish chip base is TRK Gold). :D

Oh WOW alright! That makes those all the better!!

Today I quickly talk about what I've done so far in Finland going into the last week of being here for vacation. We've basically done everything which we came here to do as well as a few extra things. Seen family, enjoyed our time and made the most of it for sure! Still plenty of fun things to do while we are here. Also, those of you who stuck around till the end of the Supra video know I was hoping for some good news on Switch going into earnings. MAN they showed up! Switch flew up 18-19% with EPS being slightly lower, but revenue was up. Then, they also reported about possibly re-organizing as a REIT. That made me get my largest trade so far so very happy about that!
