My first several pours of this bottle were not great. It had that "plastic toy" note that I despise. More specifically as I have stated in the past, a Han Solo figurine note; and even more specifically, the one where he's wearing the Hoth outfit, lol. Anyway, now that it's 1/2 way through; that note has vanished. I am left with a deep, rich, chocolate mint rye that is extremely pleasant. HAPPY FRYEDAY!!

From my limited experience, I find that most bottles tend to age well. After they get some air in them, they tend to mellow out, and the flavors become more pronounced without the ethanol notes.

My one bottle that I had that did not eat well was ETL. When I opened it, it was creamy and really delicious. So I saved the bottle and went back to it a few months later and it started getting a plasticky note to it. Six months more and I hated it. I even gave away my back up bottle because I didn’t like it anymore.

That's why it's fun to keep a blending bottle around -- to combine all those left-over 4 ounces into your very own magnificent creation!

This year’s Cairdeas is a Lore Cask Strength. Got lucky and found one yesterday on my day off! If it’s even close to how good the regular 10yr CS is, I’ll be very happy.View attachment 1535547
It’s really fun to watch you enjoy Scotch… especially after you swore it off for so long. :cool

Glad you got it! I was gonna suggest you the Cairdeas after your post about the 10 Cask Strength… Every year it’s a tough battle between those two releases… I haven’t had this Lore CS yet though…

Paulo introduced this to me last year. I love it! They don't sell it around here. I had to order it online. It was worth it. I introduced it to my oldest daughter last night. She loved it!

The only Laphroaigs readily available here are the standard 10yr and Quarter Cask. After a bit of research, I found that North Carolina only got 12 total cases of this year’s Cairdeas and just 6 cases of the 10yr Cask Strength. I doubt I’ll see any more of either this year once they’re gone. I took a chance and grabbed 2 of the Cask Strength’s last month when they dropped. Glad I did…it’s amazing!

Only one store out of about 30 ABC stores in my home county got 2 cases of the Cairdeas and 1 case of the regular Cask Strength. That’s it…the remaining 15 cases out of 18 total got distributed across the state. The Cairdeas just dropped this past Friday and there are still a few left and they still had a couple of the Cask Strengths on the shelf when I was there Monday. Do I really need a backup for my backup?:ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

I probably should crack the Cairdeas soon to see if I “need” a backup of it
