Experiment over...3 liters went in the barrel about 1.25 liters (plus samples) came out. Tastes like a sweet double oak. A tad dry with a nice hug. I wish I had a proofometer. Look at the color!

I think I'll try a better starting whiskey next time.

I love that these JDBP ryes are becoming more readily available. They're not as consistent flavorwise as the regular JDBPs, but I haven't had one yet I didn't really like, great bottles for the $60-$75 price tag. This one has some licorice to compliment the jammy bright red fruits I usually get.

It’s our Anniversary today (24th) . Having a nice pour while grilling some steaks for dinner.

This picture on 4/28 was the last time I had a pour in my house. I’ve had 1 other since.

I can’t wait for baseball season to end. That, and I just never go into the basement, and I’m usually too tired to drink anymore.

How sad I’ve become.

How's the 15 year goat?
I picked it up on a whim from a guy downsizing. Honestly, my first pour of it was extremely underwhelming. This time around I definitely enjoyed it more. It's the mystery 78.5% corn mash bill (likely beam). It's definitely oaky. It has some wicked complexity that you need to be prepared in order to appreciate. It made the Jefferson's taste young, which makes sense as that's an 8yr blend. Will leave some more thoughts the next time around.

It's a novelty. Old Fashioned with bacon washed bourbon was fine, but not any better than the standard. Good for cocktail program in a crowded bar scene that wants to stand out from the crowd, but nothing special IMHO...

That was kind of my impression. Honestly, I still prefer my whiskey neat. When I want to mix it up, I'm good with the standard OF.

My first several pours of this bottle were not great. It had that "plastic toy" note that I despise. More specifically as I have stated in the past, a Han Solo figurine note; and even more specifically, the one where he's wearing the Hoth outfit, lol. Anyway, now that it's 1/2 way through; that note has vanished. I am left with a deep, rich, chocolate mint rye that is extremely pleasant. HAPPY FRYEDAY!!
