When dry Jan/Feb comes to an end, I'd like to celebrate with my favorite...Michter's 10 Bourbon. Unfortunately, I'm down to the last inch of the only bottle I’ve ever had. Anyone have a line on one at retail (sub $200) that they'd be willing to ship?

Tell me I'm crazy: moreso than any other type of whiskey, I find Irish Whiskeys just get better and better as you make your way through the glass (and subsequent refills....), each sip seems to build on each other. There are a few bourbons that do that as well, but nothing like a good irish. I always leave them for the weekend, because the chances of drinking half a bottle without blinking are real lol

Username checks out ;)

I’d still probably pass… unless you really like OGD

I’d be real interested in those Russell’s right next door. If they’re pricing OGD 16 like this, I’d guess those are a similarly great price
That Russell's is a store pic single barrel. I believe it was $80.

I don’t have a full bottle, unfortunately but happy to bring you a sample to Bills forthcoming game for you to try it (think you’re going too?) :)

Finally had the chance to try your sample!!

Made the mistake of drinking it side by side with the Sgamore Sherry, which was my intention that night at Bill’s.

The nose on the Sagamore is way more sherried and shouty than on the NR, to a point I couldn’t pick up the sherry finish in the NR. Both show plenty of the Rye, so the sherry didn’t drowned out the Sagamore.

Palate was a bit similar to the nose. Sagamore was spicier and more astringent than the NR, likely because of the sherry. It also felt it had a higher ABV although it was lower.

The NF entry was much sweeter and fuller and it didn’t show it’s ABV at all. It drank like a very good Rye. I could be convinced I tasted the sherry right before the end but it was subtle to me.

Finish on the Sagamore was more on the spicy, savory and vegetal and the NF a wonderful fruity honey.

I really like both but it felt the NR was a better put together rye and if I could pick only one, it would be the NR.

I still have a bit left on the sample bottle so I’ll try side by side with the regular NR Malted Rye.

Thanks again for the sample!! It’s much appreciated and I really, really enjoyed it. Hope we can battle on the felt again soon…

Awesome Paulo - Very interesting and fun comparison! Thx for reporting back. Would love to hear how it fares against nf rye!

Look forward to learning to swim from you sharks as well….

Cheers

Would love to hear your thoughts. Have been contemplating picking up this or their mizunara finish…I’ve heard good things about what mizunara finishing does
It was all over the place, but in a good way. I was crazy tired last night so I didn't take any notes, after this rests a couple of weeks I'll revisit with some proper tasting notes.

Grab the new Kilchoman Sanaig cast strength today.

Not usually...$150 for non age stated is a pass for me.
The WR warehouses are temperature controlled, they constantly raise and lower the temperature for faster "aging". So they don't put an age statement on there. Because it would say like 5 or 6 years for this $150 bottle or some such number. That's a pass for me too.
