My first pour in 35 days! I feel like I’m pretty much back to normal . Very thankful for how everything worked out for me!

Mrs Baroo wanted me to fire up the gas logs tonight and I commented that this would be a perfect night for a nice smoky scotch. To my surprise she says go ahead…“have you one”!

Cheers!

Just got back from a 10 day trip in Japan. Went to a few cocktail bars in Tokyo & Kyoto. Started hobbying with bourbon a few months ago and decided to stick with American whiskey for the time being but picked up a bottle of Harmony the day before I left to give it a try since I was going to its birthplace. Tried the Hakushu 12, Yamazaki 12, The Chita, Suntory AO, & then decided to splurge on a pour of the Hibiki 21 on my last night there. Cheapest bottle I saw was 77,000 yen but most places were selling for 100k or more. Couldnt justify it yet as the most expensive bottle I have at home is $100. But I did enjoy it. Even before I got into the hobby the hibiki bottles have always been the most aesthetic and memorable liquor bottles to me.

I love Japanese whisky

What did you think of the JD BP BouRye? I did that once and just remember not liking it nearly as much as I was thinking it would be. These are two of my all time favorite barrel proof whiskies but I won’t be mixing them together again anytime soon.
First taste was very good, incredible nose. Toasted sweet oak & banana cream pie up front, followed by strawberries, raspberries and rye.

Good for you! It's been a hard month for friends. First you and then I have a poker reg who was in a bad accident on Halloween morning. Been in the ICU for 4 weeks but they are finally moving him to rehab/therapy in the next day or so. Drink that one for the both of you! Cheers from me and Spencer here for Turkey day.

I think Rare Breed still gets the nod. The 70th has a nicer nose and is possibly a TCH more complex, but the Rare Breed just hits harder with more flavor, and for this proof whore takes the contest.
I agree that it comes down to proof. I normally prefer in the 100-110 range, so I love the 70th.

On the other hand, I also had this tonight, and it was crazy good. If I had been given it blind, I never would have believed that it was 127. Delicious and not at all harsh like many other high proof bottles are to me.
