Official Fit Competition (Sept 7 - Nov 30) (4 Viewers)

No gym access for me yet, so far here’s what I’ve managed to scrape together for a circuit around the house. If anyone else wants to do this all you need is a set of dumbells and one of those door frame pull-up bars (they’re cheap)

-pushups
-chinups
-dumbbell shoulder press
-curls
-dumbbell squats
-dumbbell lunges
-misc ab shit

Anything you’d add? I’ve done it a couple times and felt like I hit most of the majors, and more or less balanced
Looks a good list. Add some burpees, of jumping jacks in between to really get the heart rate up too.

Bodyweight or weighted dips using a chair are a great one if you don't have access to equipment. As per the pic below

Also, pull-ups are better than chinups. Especially wide grip, once you start building up some strength. But those are pretty tough.

Add some dips and this is pretty much my home strength training routine. A pull up bar is the only thing I’m missing

Haha yeah between our recommendations and what @Frogzilla has listed is my complete workout from home routine

edit: I stick to planks and mountain climbers for ab work

May be covered by ‘misc ab shit’, but planks over any variation of crunches etc.
Crunches and situps never seem great to me. Planks are great, as are hanging leg-raises and knee raises. Or Russian twists

For at home leg exercises sumo squats and pistol squats are great if/when you can work up to them

Does anybody have any recommendations for workouts with limited mobility in the shoulder due to unrepaired dislocation damage?

Bad beat today. Went out running a few hours ago and can barely walk on left heel. Seems to be plantar fasciitis and google says that’s a few weeks minimum no impact. Cycling it is
+1 for the shot. They'll probably want to make you custom insoles as well. Mine was bad enough that I couldn't walk on it at all in the morning and took forever to get down the stairs. But even then ibuprofen and plenty of warm up, and I could go 5-6 hours of basketball.

Lol get the hell outta here. I don't think I could even do pistol squats with TRX support right now  :ROFLMAO:

Alright so we have almost everyone's starting weights in. Surprisingly, only waiting on one or two weights and one or two prizes. For some reason I can edit some posts but not others, once I can edit again I'll update the "Ante" post with more prizes.

@timinater is finishing up the links and we'll have those out to you folks soon.

Good luck to everyone, get going! For those that don't have a plan in place or anything, don't feel bad, just start *something*. I'm in an air b&B with two small kids, delay after delay on closing on our house, bike stored in the shipping container, currently watching the kids eat waffles and fruit because I'm intermittent fasting. With almost no time for this crap, I've eaten better and tried to get out every other day for a run. That alone has made a difference in how I feel. Just get something going.

On the note of having no time or space or equipment on hand, anyone familiar with adjustable dumbbells? Never had to use before, any downside?

The idea here is to build better habits, not just keep doing what he already does every day...

I have the power blocks and love em. Some of the cheaper adjustables I’ve used are very wobbly and just don’t feel stable. Plus they usually can’t go very heavy on the cheaper ones depending on what exercises you plan to do with them

Add a TRX strap and an over the door anchor.
Looking at this on Amazon but a bit lost - there are three different TRX systems that range from $130 to $220, and it looks like they are all the same core system but just with additional mount options and ancillary stuff. Is that about right?

Weight limit is 350 so I may need to hold off until I'm down a few pounds, but often these systems will really hold well in excess of their rated limit.

This interests me because after a few minutes of reading, it sounds like it's a solid option for runners who need some strength training. Since getting back into running shape is my primary goal, this sounds like it might be something I could do at home and enjoy (or at least tolerate).

If you have somewhere like the garage where you can anchor this from the ceiling or even something sturdy to hang them from above, you'll get an insanely wide range of movements/options.

I'd probably put a mount point on the ceiling in my mancave/home office/poker room. It's a big room over the garage with plenty of floor space, and my treadmill already lives here so a little more eau de man-sweat won't really make a difference.

Also here's my bounty that I fully intend to keep. :sneaky:
  • Honorary membership in my local poker group (92 Poker), which means you're invited to play with us anytime you're in town.
  • STFU chip from the original blue wall GB many years ago.
  • A commemorative from the one and only meetup I've ever hosted: the 2+2 Home Poker Invitational back in 2014.
  • A barrel of 15th Anniversary commemorative fivers from Empress Joliet.

I have a few of these. We used the X mount. As long as you use lag bolts into a stud, you'll be okay. My wife had a client that broke one of the clips, but the strap was a couple of years old. If you're buying, let me know. My wife may or may not have a discount code.

@BarrieJ3 @CraigT78

Podiatrist appointment made. If the steroid injections give me tits, I will angleshoot both of you relentlessly at SQM
The shot was near instant relief. Mine was so bad that I had to walk around on my tip toes. Couldn't set my heal down.

Are all those strappy thingies the same? Or are they slightly different somehow?

Serious or kidding?
Serious. My wife owns a fitness business (I'm clearly not her spokesperson, or even a client)

She's online now because of covid, and plans to keep that aspect of her business. Her focus is on body positive life long fitness for everyone. She's got group fitness, one on one training via Skype, an app, and several facebook groups.

Not a sales pitch, but if anyone has any questions, PM me.

The ones shown are all the same, they are the pro model and are using extenders because the garage ceiling is too high for proper use. If anyone gets one for home use, the basic model is more than enough. The ones we have are pro, because so many people use them. TRX is a great body weight workout, and there are tons of videos online that show proper use.

Everyone should have received their weigh-in link now. If you haven't PM me please and I will get you sorted out.

Likewise, if there are any errors in yours please give it a day or two before messaging. Once everyone has logged some data I will go in and de-bug, double check for errors etc.

For my bounty, I'll be putting up a little something - but it's a secret project for now :)

I love adjustable dumbbells. I have a set that goes 5 to 52.5 pounds. I max out a few exercises, but I could not upgrade because covid. I think the next ones I am looking at go 10-90.

Starting weigh in sent to @BarrieJ3, clocking in at 218.4

Not great, but also not as bad as I thought it may have been. Time to get serious!
