Absolute newbie here, love the game of poker and have been playing for years, but just new into the whole chip scene. Any suggestions on starter packs? Things to know? Be weary of? Thanks.
As always, get samples. There are many posts offering free or low cost sample packs. If you posted that you were on the lookout for such a thing, I'm also sure that they'd materialize once you get PM access.
Next step is the hotdog roller. Do not skip this step as it is hard to chip on an empty stomach.
Then, once you have eaten many hotdogs and dialed in what your game needs (cash, tournament, big, small, stakes, etc.) and which chips you like (ceramics, THCs, RHCs, TRKs, etc.), you can start branching out.
chip denomination and quantities needed depends entirely on what form of poker game you are hosting? Tourny? Hold'em? Limit? how many players?
First figure out your needs, then pick out chips based on samples, then decide on pattern and colors. Then decide on storage and transport requirements.
