After focusing all my energy and money in finishing my flamingo set, I'm now ready to take on a new project.

At the start of the year, I managed to snag a rack of Aztar $25s on the classifieds and was immediately mesmerized by the shaped and textured inlays.
I also managed to track down 120 of the $5s but those just didn't do it for me. RHC, giant inlays... not a good match, despite beeing from the same casino.

After checking prices and availability of shaped inlay THC $5s, I put the Aztar way way back in the closet and buried my plans to actually build a set around them.

A few months went by but I couldn't quite forget those day green devils calling to me from their dark warneke prison.
So I reached out to my trusted reshipper @arch3r and asked him if there was anything he could do for me concerning $5s to get the set off the ground. And boy did he come through:

Pure leaded radioactive beauty.

So I was finally getting somewhere and actually finishing the set on my humble budget seemed more doable all of a sudden.
Getting $1s proved to be more of a challenge than I'd hoped, so I just decided on using the 120 old school spotted flamingos that I already own for my flamingo set. Those will be used in both sets until I manage to find more of them, preferably at <$5 / chip (already reached out to @Windwalker but no luck so far) or a worthy replacement.

I had a rack of arc yellow starbursts at @LeGold all ready to be milled and stopped the murder just in time for them to be shipped as they were from norway to germany to serve as my non denom fracs.

They do clean up nicely by the way:

So this is where I'm at now:

Next up:
Choosing a $100.

The Yellow set! Looks good and actually affordable in today’s climate is very rare. Congrats.

Anybody got a good suggestion for a hundo in the $3-6 dollar range? It should have a shaped inlay and edgespots that would make for a good progression from the empress and aztar.

I think that PCA actually fits well there with the fat spots/3D38, red denomination, likely condition, and having yellow or arc yellow in the inserts.

I thought so too, but I'm a bit turned off by it only having two colors on three edgespots instead of three on four for the lower denoms... I was thinking bear claw, but broader edgespots also seem to be a good progression...

@Windwalker suggested the kings baccarat aruba but he also thought they weren't quite perfect because they only have 2 colors in the edgespots.

They got a red denom and 4 edgespots going for them though...

After sniping two racks of LCO $1s, here's where I'm at now:

The barrel of Kings is beautiful and in excellent condition which unfortunately is also a problem because of the significant height difference to the rest of the set...
I might have to try to trade it for another BOH in slightly worse condition.
Any suggestions?

Understanding your OCD and concern for height variance, what are the chances that the $100s even get in play? And if they did... that one player would have all of them? Looks like close to a 1 chip Height difference for the whole barrel. A minty chip is what 3.3 mm, so over 20 chips this is a height difference of .15mm per chip... don't let your OCD be the only deciding factor here! Lol

Now 4D14 after 4T18 (or whatever they call triple spots) that would be more of an issue for me. Personally I think we gotta think homerun here and go Tiger Claw for the $100... just not sure what else you are going to find with 4 groups of triples there.

Purdy set for sure! Love the LCOs in the line up!

I sold these last year. But only have 3 spot patterns instead of 4. But would look good.
What about this one?

Unfortunately it is the only one I have ever seen. They claim a run was made of the 4 spot groups, but this is the only one I have seen.

Been a couple years since I have taken it out of the capper

Any thought for a $500? Cause this is bad ass! Probably not available in quantity, but still cool!

Other than that our $100 singles collection kind of stinks! Not much help brain storming on the upper end...

Good lord that mint $500 is a great chip!
I'd definitely be interested in a few of those! :wow:

I don't know how I lost track of my own thread but I'm reading your latest suggestions from Nov 2021 for the first time just now.

I've filled the spot of the hundo with the Aztar MO $100 and I think it works great, even though it's the same casino as the $25.

Right now I'm murdering the last of the paper inlay fuchsias for my fracs.
The lables arrived last week so it's time to get busy and finish the set.

I've chosen the capitol city lables for my fracs because I'm a sucker for red denoms and I love the design of these.
I'll shoot a family picture and some splash pots when the lables are on.

@Ben0586 is that Del webbs mint $500 still in your posession? :ninja:
Seems like a worthwhile multi year project trying to fill a half barrel.

We never even owned. Single of those $500s... I had stolen that pic from someone. There is a collector here that collects "The Mint" chips and for sure has one but doubtful he would let it go

Can't blame the guy. ;)
Low stakes for the foreseeable future it is. :)

What about Skyway Park Bowl?

Grand Casino Gulfport or Players Reno? But not for $3-$6... :ROFLMAO:

Empress secondary? Okay not exactly a yellow spot...

The skyway park bowl have awesome edgespots but no shaped inlay... Same problem with the ambassador plazas.

Yup grand casino Gulfport would be perfect but I don't think I could afford a barrel of these.

The empress Joliet would be great also but I already have the empress Joliet $5 in the set.

I was trying to get emerald princess hundos but as you know - no success.

We can talk about the gulfports if you have a barrel you can spare. ;)

Unfortunately I don't own a full barrel of the Gulfports. I have only 7 original Gulfport $100s. The other $100s are murdered Hinckley's.

Oh yes you are right! I forgot the no shaped and double Casino problem.

This thread keeps slipping my mind even though I'm so very happy with how the set turned out!

Better late than never: time to update the thread with a pic of the finished set.
Leaded set-2.jpg

I might add another rack or two of the LCOs should the opportunity arrive though... *cough* @aggie *cough*
