My relabel Majestic cash set (2 Viewers)

Pink $2/2.50 (Snapper!),

Can I ask why you're ordering a snapper? Really only necessary in a casino (in blackjack). Worthless on the poker table, other than as a novelty... And then, it might just be confusing. Maybe could be used if for come reason you're running $2.50/$5.00 blinds NLHE?

:)

@Trihonda Oh I'm just being ridiculous and fickle! I kind of enjoy a $2 chip (I gushed about the lime $2 Poker Knights in my writeup earlier this week) though.

The snapper would just be goofy at $2.50. I'd never run a $2.50/$5 game I just don't have the audience for it (or the bankroll).

A $2 chip to what end? They are pointless chips, unless of course you're in a limit game $2/$4.

I'd personally spend my chip budget on more chips that you can use. :)

FYP...$2/$4 and $3/$6 are way better when played with $1 chips, imo. $4/$8 is fun with $1s too but you'll need lots of 'em.

I stand corrected. :).

Still say a $2 chip isn't a wise choice for the octo's chip budget.

You're all making extremely valid points. I can't really justify a $2 chip other than the novelty factor.

The question then is just how well I can make 3-4 colors work for me with either custom labels on china clays or the existing low denom sets. Waiting on my Majestic and Pharaos samples to show up, and I grabbed a sleeve of the Dunes $5 for fun. Of all the stock sets, I know the Dunes have the most appealing low limit colors (pink $0.25, blue $1, red $5). Majestics seem to work for me, but I would probably want the blue $1 over the white $1, though I suppose I could be convinced otherwise. Additionally, I would prefer a yellow or orange $5 in the Majestics, but they just sold out of orange and I've read the yellow won't be in stock until the next factory shipment later in the year. Dunes, to my knowledge, are going to feel a lot like the ProGen set I have in that they're unslugged injection molded.

The BJ Hybrid group by is awesome, but I know if I only buy a small cash set I'm going to hate myself because I didn't buy a large cash set AND a tourney set (NEED OVERSIZE $5000 CHIP, CAN'T... RESIST). It's just not the right time to push $700 into a chip set that I'm not sure will get any use beyond a handful of times in the short to medium term.

Although, they likely will hold their value over time. And I could sell my existing ProGen tourney set, however worthless it may be, to offset a portion of the cost (and there are a few other odds and ends I have been meaning to get rid of - spring cleaning and all). Still on the fence, but my original point stands. If I only put in for a small set I know I'd have wanted to have my hands on every single chip in that set when I had the chance :cautious: (Yes, that includes the snapper).

I was looking for this very thread. I'm not a big fan of the Majestic chocolate $5000 and wanted to use one of the better unused colors for a bit more "color pop." Our tournament doesn't use $25's (green) which is unfortunate because I love the color... we only use $100, $500, $1000, and $5000. Since I only need 25-50 $5000 chips, I think I'm going to go with Orange blanks and get $5000 labels for them separate. That will be the most cost effective option for me...and down the road, it will be easier (and cheaper) to add chips to the set because I won't have to buy custom.

But HanShot1st....I will have to say...your custom set is AWESOME!! The best colors of the set are Blue, Orange, Red, and Green...and you used them all!

I had assumed that I could buy stock labels directly from Apache, but Josh noted that stock labels should be purchased from gear labels instead. Maybe this is normal and your labels have the Majestic logo, etc and specializes in Majestic labels. I had contemplated using the blue for the one dollar, but that might be cost prohibitive for me now, but we'll see.

Did you order all of your majestic labels from your stock majestic labels from gearlabels?

No, I bought them as part of the pre buy the first time they were offered. At that time Apache offered stock labels.

This is a great thread. I have a sample set of Majestics in front of me and trying to contemplate to go with the standard colors or have different labels on different colors. Overall, I like the color choices. However the 2 best colors, Orange and Blue are on denoms I don't intend to use/need. So I have been trying to figure out to use them with a combination of standard colors and overridden colors.

For a cash set, I'd do
25c - orange (override)
1 - white (standard)
5 - red (standard)
25 - green (standard)
100 - black (standard)

For a tourney set, I'd do
25 - green (standard)
100 - black (standard)
500 - purple (standard)
1000 - yellow (standard)
5000 - blue (override)

What do you think?

Also, he seems to be out of stock on many colors, including 100/black, so I'm on hold either way...

Personally, I would think your cash set is going to be very red...the orange and red are pretty colors I do like the white 1s but I liked the blue better, personally.
I would hesitate to use the blue as your high denom, it's a muted color, I'd go with the slightly more traditional pink. Make those final chips pop.
Just my opinion tho.

I personally think the best colors of the set are Green, Blue, and Orange. And unfortunately, those are the colors that would go unused in my cash and tournament set if I didn't switch things around. HanShot1st's custom set is in my head unfortunately :)

I too am putting together a tourney set and a cash set. For the tourney set, we start at 100 and go to 5000. So my set will look like:
100 - black (standard)
500 - purple (standard)
1000 - yellow (standard)
5000 - orange(override)

I thought too about using the blue for the 5000 chip...but I think the orange pops a lot more and is definitely a great color for the highest denomination chip...and it has stark contrast to the yellow 1000. I agree with HanShot1st, the blue looks good initially but it's muted. I even thought about using salmon for the 5000 chip but it's not bright enough and doesn't contrast enough with the yellow chip in my opinion. I love the green but beside the yellow, it doesn't really contrast well either. I think Orange is the best bet here for the $5000.

But then there is the cash set. What to do...what to do?? I really hate for the blue to go unused. I really don't want to deviate from traditional colors either. Do I like the salmon? It's okay...but now that I've seen the orange 25c...I like it too. But now I'm using the orange as the 5000 in tourney. I love the blue color and need to use it for something. We don't really have a need for green yet in my game, but I hate to leave it out. I'm not a big fan of the white...but it's traditional.

Options
25c - salmon (standard) or orange? (override)
1 - white (standard) or blue? (override)
5 - red (standard)
10 - blue (standard) or 25 green (standard) for a larger denom chip, unused for now....

I just don't know right now.... I do like your cash game set though...you can't go wrong with the orange chip for a 25c....it's like it's meant to be. Keep us posted what you choose. I'll post back the cost for stock labels when gearlabels gets back to me.

Received and 600 relabels later, they are ready to play! This is my Majestic's cash set. I knew i wanted a cash set, but my personal choice was not to go with the stock colors for the $0.25 (pink), and the $1 (white). Instead I chose the blank orange for my fracs and the blue blanks for my $1. I think they turned out pretty darn awesome! Looking forward to years of enjoyment, and good poker!

Looks great!

I have been thinking about doing the same thing, building a low limit cash set with the Majestic's using custom colors.
Love the orange and much prefer blue over white for $1

Right now I think I'm going with

$0.25 - orange (200)
$1.00 - blue (200)
$5.00 - red (150)
$20.00 - yellow (50)

for a 600 chip set. Should be able to handle 10 players, $50 buy-in ( 20/20/5/0 ) with plenty to color up for re-buys.

And that way I can build a tourney set later with the following, not reusing any colors but using mostly standard labeling

$25 - green
$100 - black
$500 - purple
$1000 - pink
$5000 - brown

Thoughts on this.

I will say this though, i need to source 12 better racks to store them in. I think it's the chipco racks that fit these best. Anyone have a suggestion as to where I can best acquire these?
PGI for new-style Chipco racks. GOCC racks will also work.

On the cast set, I 100% agree. Love the Orange/Blue/Red....and then comes $20 or $25 chip. Our game is small stakes and everything works in $20 bills, and not at $25. Even though they won't be used often, I really need a $20 chip...and I thought about yellow also...I keep going back and forth on relabeling green chips for $20 but I just can't get it out of my head that a green is supposed to be $25. Would it be strange to have a green $20 chip? If you can work yellow in for a $20....Do it! And I might do the same.

It appears that you are trying to not reuse any colors...which I'm finding to be very very difficult.

I like the green/black/purple....however, I'm not a big fan of the $1000 pink being next to the $500 purple. I think the colors are way to close to one another in my opinion. If you don't want to use orange here (which I will be doing), then what about white? It will stand out from the purple... Or reusing orange I think is the better choice. Brown ($5000) is fine and would be much different than the orange or white.

my thoughts as I make these decisions too.

I assume you mean strange for a $20 green chip. Nope. Not strange at all in my opinion. Whatever colors you like is the right choice.

Yea, I don't want to reuse colors. I know if I do, the cash set and the tourney set will get mixed and then my OCD will just, well, you know.

The pink next to the purple will play nice I think. I have a sample set and took a pic...

The orange (which I love) will also play nice as the $1000, but next to the brown, which shares yellow edge spots and also has orange spots as well, might be too much? But like I said, whatever you like is the right decision. Decisions, decisions. :D

Yes... I meant a $20 green chip being strange (now corrected). It's good to know it's not strange and that would let me use green for both $20 cash and $20,000 tourney....and it would kind of make sense.

Oh I understand the OCD. I can't believe how much time I've spent stressing over chip colors when most of group won't care at all.

I have the sample but the pic didn't come through.

I'm going to use orange as my $5000 tournament and also for my 25 cent cash. I just can't get away from that orange quarter.

Salmon, white and chocolate will go unused I guess. Decisions, decisions.

Oh I totally hear ya. The guys I play with think dice chips (gasp) are just fine. Damn heathens.

And my girlfriend thinks I may need Chippers Anonymous at this point.

Pic fixed

It's so pretty, and its my favorite color. But I just can't bring myself to have 2 denominations of the same color from the same style chip.

And I'm considering using the white, the only one I have not used yet, as a $0.05 chip. That was I can host a micro-cash game, and I use all the colors. Yea, I know it's probably smarter to get more of the chips I will more likely use ( $0.25, $1, and $5 ) but like I said, I have issues.

Good luck with your decisions decisions, and hope they don't keep you up at night. :D

I have a alternate labeled set put away somewhere, went the cali colors route of

.25 - orange
1 - blue
5 - brown (prefer butterscotch to yellow)
20 - black
100 - white

It's amazing how different the Cali colors are. I guess that's where the infamous blue $1 comes from.

So...I'm narrowing it down but I need some help. For a few reason, it seems unwise to use the same color for tournament and cash. So I am trying to get away from using the orange as my $5000 chip because it will be used as my $0.25 chip too. That being said....

Cash Set - (All 100% Decided - finally)
$0.25 - Orange
$1 - Blue
$5 - Red
$20 - Green - which will rarely be used in my current game

Tournament Set -
$100 - Black - Decided
$500 - Purple - Decided
$1000- Yellow - Decided
$5000 ?????? Need Help* (no longer Orange)

I'm looking for enough contrast with the $1000 yellow because the $1000 & $5000 will be in play at the same time. Typically I want that $5000 to be bright because its the highest denom chip we use.

* My choices for the $5000 are:

Chocolate (unused) - Just not a big fan of chocolate here in this set at all. Am I crazy? It contrasts well. Maybe it's okay stock.
Salmon (unused) - Salmon is not great for me in general and looks like the purple (which will be in play at the same time)
Green (used occasionally in cash) - This one I'm eyeing. Is there enough contrast here between the yellow and green to pull this off?
White (unused) - Again, the yellow and white seem to be too close?

Thoughts?

So you are not getting any sleep I see Decisions, decisions... :-P

First, I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. It's just a pretty chip design. Great colors all around.

But here's my thoughts ( for what it's worth ) on your choices for $5k

chocolate - my least favorite chip of the set (not that I hate any of them, but if I had to rank them, it comes in last) and putting them with purple and yellow ( final 3 chips ) seems blah. I know I'm thinking about doing just that, but I can't reuse colors.
salmon - I disagree that it's too close to purple. I think they look great next to each other. And with the yellow, super bright and colorful; looks like Easter :-)
green - looks fine with final 3. There is enough contrast, but I just can't reuse colors - but if you are going to reuse, reuse orange!
white - looks good with final colors but it's white, you know what I mean. Just does not get that pop on the final color you are looking for.

So I'd rank them: Salmon, (orange), green, white, chocolate

Hopefully I'm not making this harder. Cause with every suggestion I read, or color combo I see, I rethink my decisions. UGH.

On a different topic, are you just reusing the default Majestic label? Or are you going with a custom design? Came across this thread. Some really cool designs. Decisions, decisions...

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/custom-majestic-contest.8831/

I'm glad you don't like the chocolate either...that can at least be eliminated!

I'm going to try again to like the salmon but I'm not sure it's going to work for me. It's my wife's favorite and she's disappointed to that I'm not giving it a chance. If I would just use salmon for the $0.25, this entire discussion would be over.

Orange is my absolute favorite here. It's bright, it says $5000!! and it was my original plan. And it's your favorite color too. I would say I like it over the green in that spot. Then we are back to where I was...$5000 orange, $20,000 Green or White (that wouldn't be used much). I'll set them out tonight and take pictures of all of the options and go from there.

I am not clicking on that custom design decal page...I am not ! Ha. That's the last thing I need is to try to design a label. I don't think I can beat the Majestic label...so I will stick with that one.
