So here is my current structure. I allow 2 Rebuys until the end of round 13. I am trying to get advice to if I should incorporate an add on at some point in the tourney. Thanks for any help.

How long do your tournaments typically take. Roughly what blind level does it typically end. How long are your blind levels. Assuming 15 BL, your allowing rebuys for the first 3 hrs. Why not allow add ons at each break....although I don't think you'll get any takers till the 3rd break.

Looks like a marathon of a tourney.

Vince, help us help you. In no particular order...

Structure
How long are the blinds? Are the blinds the same length every round?
What are the starting stacks? How much in chip value to a re-buy?
How many players max?
How long do you intend for it to last?

Lesser issues with structure...

What are the buy-ins? Re-buys? Requirements for add-on?
How many does it pay out?
What are the payouts?
How many players are a table?
Dedicated dealers? Playing dedicated dealers? Rotating dealers?
How much trouble is an add-on?

General comments
It looks to me like you could get rid of the 100s after Round 16, but it doesn't look like that happens until after Round 20. Not sure why.
500s appear to not be needed after Round 22, but don't come off the table until after 24.
After Round 24, you no longer need the 1000s, but the 500s are still on the table.
Re-buys, and presumably buy-ins, end at the end of Round 13. Why not the end Round 12 where you have a break?

@TexRex here is the info you needed:

Tournament Details
25K Starting Stacks
15 min blind levels
25K Rebuy Stack
10 Players Max
5-7 hrs

$60 buy-in
-$40 main pot
-$20 bounty
Payouts
-1st-50%
-2nd-30%
-3rd-20%

No dedicated dealers just a house game with rotating dealers.
No problem doing add-ons as I have plenty of chips.

Fixed the general comment problems other than end rebuys. I do end rebuys after round 12 but I use blinds up and it doesn't allow me to end rebuys after a break so I just threw it in after round 13 so I can add their rebuys to the app during the break.

Never have incorporated add ons but think it would be nice to build the pot a little more. Was hoping to charge $20 per add on but wasn't sure how many chips they should receive per add on.

Thanks again for any help you can provide.

For the most part, I think add-ons are useless in the home game environment.

What is the point?
  1. Do you want players with more expendable income to have more chips, and thus a better chance of winning
  2. Do you want players to bust out before they get the chance to add-on
  3. Does the add-on fund dealers
In a self-dealt home game, none of these reasons mean anything. In a casino...
  1. Key point for casinos. Winning players return more than losing players. They want the player with more expendable income to keep coming back.
  2. Starting with less than a full stack gets players to rebuy quicker, and more rake, or it gets players into the cash game. Either way, a casino loses money every minute a player is in a tournament, only making a profit when you buy in.
  3. Casinos frequently keep 100% of the add-on. Called a dealer's toke, it pays a tip to the dealers. Because this is optional, it feels less like a rake to the player - but you are spending money you can't get back, so yeah, it's just a optional rake.
Unless you have some innovative reason for an add-on, fuggetaboutit.

If you allow re-buys (I never do), an add-on only for those who haven't busted allows those players to begin non-rebuy play with more chips than those who have re-bought.

That's the only value I see to add-ons.

Alternatively, I've played in a couple (home) tournaments with rebuys that at the end of the last rebuy break period, they will allow a player to forfeit their (small) stack in order to rebuy up to the rebuy stack amount (typically same as the starting stack in small home tourneys).

This seems to be a fair way to deal with the following situation: let's say a player, who would otherwise rebuy if they busted, loses a lot of chips really close to the last break before the rebuy period ends, and they end up with only 1000 in chips (from the 25,000 starting stack) at the last hand before the break, in which they go all-in. The outcomes are either:
A) The player loses the hand, busts out, and will rebuy for the full amount back to 25,000
B) The player wins the hand, but now only has around 2000 to 4000 in chips (depending on who was BB/SB, etc.), but might be prevented from re-buying since they didn't bust out.

I like pulling level 1 out due to 25k stacks and making up for that by adding a 2500/5000 level later. Then race off chips after 25/300/600 which would be the new level 8 right before a break.

I hate early meaningless levels, but everyone loves the "deepstack" idea. Even if you just play deep for an hour.

What are the denominations in the 25k stack like how many of each chip?
