Man Sets Guinness World Record For Collectible Casino Chips (1 Viewer)

Good for Paul. Super nice guy - met him at the convention in Las Vegas two years ago.

All I can claim is over 900 different white $1 US casino Paulson chips… (and counting…) :)

wow, cool, but I would have thought more, like in tens of thousands

I think that there are lots of rules on what qualifies. I believe that it’s one per casino, etc.
Kinda stupid when it's not spelled out that way in the record.
That's like saying biggest car collection in the world is only one per manufacturer and a guy with 10x as many of only half the manufacturers doesn't count.

It’s a complicated record in a sense.

I helped the previous world record (Gregg Fisher) holder verify that all chips/tokens had to be from a different casino. It took me a week with all the other things I was doing at work to verify over 2,222 different chips and tokens to make sure there was only one from each casino. You could have the same name, but different city. No fantasy chips or fake chips allowed. Chips or tokens can be from all over the world, no “home game” style or similar chips were allowed.

So, if anyone thinks that sub 3k or 10k chips is a lot. It’s the work, documentation, verifying and the background work that goes into it to make sure that these chips or tokens are legit. Trust me, been there, done that.

@Spinettis Gaming doesnt qualify to do the record because it’s not technically a personal collection. It is, but we’ve also got a retail store where we sell all the chips that would be part of the collection. We’ve had multiple people ask of and think we had the world record because we have Gregg Fisher’s display at our store but we don’t and wouldn’t be able to have it.

Congrats to Paul!

Thanks for this background! I'm sure it was painstaking, but it also sounded like an incredibly cool job to help verify the previous record holder's collection!

And congrats to @Paul Schaffer.

Yes I am on PCF. It is a ton of work and yes only 1 chip per casino counts. The catch is that the chip or token must have be available to the public. So no home poker sets no chips from Casinos that never opened and I stay way from Illegal casinos.

I also acknowledge that I know I don't have the biggest collection. I just have the biggest certified collection. I have and will expect the record to fall and just gives me something to prepare for when it does. For this attempt I just did mostly United States Casinos and Cruise ships.

I could not talk about it much but here is the full article they did on it.

By the way hats off to Gregg Fisher for pushing me to this new record. He is a super great guy.

Congrats! Do you happen to have some kind of website or pictures of all of them? Would be interested to view them.

I suppose when it says he has the world's largest collection of 2,250 casino chips it most mean he has 2,250 different chips.

Does anyone on PCF have more different chips? Is this man on PCF?
This is what 99% of the population thinks when you say “chip collecting”. Even after owning custom ASMs for more than a decade I thought that’s what it meant. Until I found this forum I had no clue people would collect entire sets of chips!

It's tough to catalog a collection and post them online. I started that a long time ago, and it is a never-ending process of scanning and then updating the website.

Wow I'm on your website now, looks amazing! I'm gonna scan thru yours. Thanks for doing this.

Right now it is all under my collection in the chipguide. Nice little feature of being a CCA member so I can track which ones I have and missing. I just tried to attach the file that I sent in as proof is way to large. Here are some of the pictures from the event.

Jeff,

I also had to build my own website Rubescasinochips.com just to keep track of my collection. Now days collectors who are CCA members can just click a button and add the chip to their collection. Kind of neat that it does that and it also puts them in order. I of course had also build a Access database to keep track of where each chip is in each box just in case my family needed that information. Yes you can say I have a bit of OCD when it comes to my collection but it keeps me from buying the same chip over and over.

@Paul Schaffer ... outstanding web site! Do you scan your chips, or do you photograph them? If you scan, what do you use to scan your chips?

You should add your website into your signature so everyone can see it at the bottom of any of your posts. I can be done by clicking on your user icon and typing the web address into a message in under "Signature"
