I did go through nexgen to get to my custom ceramics. I have even recently searched for some old school nexgens for nostalgia sake but they are all gone.

First set that I played with was your basic cheapie dice set from Wal-mart/Target. Fun to play with but definitely looking for something nicer to play with in the future.

2002-2003 - interlocking plastic crap things + paper cards
2004 - 2009ish - dice chips and copags
2009 - 2018 - Custon CPCs and copags
2018 - 2020 - Mix of Paulson, Matsui, CPC and China clay 8vs. Plus all the plastic cards with slight preference for Designs
2021 - Dice chip tributes by CPC.

My first set was a cheap one off of amazon. New chipper. Trying to find best ceramic set recently

Dice set.
Built my first Pulson set with HS cinci $1s $5s, and used $25 chip as the .25.
Replaced the $25 chip with a greektown .25. I've also relabeled the Ysabel $1s as $20s

Picked up DDLM set and a Scrub Donkey set as well for our tournaments

My first set was Jackpot coin inlay chips, I used to sell them actually by the 25 packs all denoms out of my trunk back in 2000

my first REAL set was President Casino New Yorkers circa 2008 ish from Chiptalk.
200- $5’s
200 - prim $25’s
100 - prim $100’s
100 - prim $500’s
25 - prim $1000’s

I just jumped ahead and dipped right in for what I liked. Advice is get samples.

First set was Modern Clays from sidepot, then graduated to the Inplay clays from same website. Now happy with my custom CPC set, think i will eventually put together relabeled paulsons at some point.

Had the plastic suit chips first. Then China clays. Then Paulson mold pharoahs... then a mixed THC set, and then the sickness kicked in from there. If you’re looking for good value, I’d recommend an rhc mixed set.
