No, there's no minimum. You can get a ................. If you let me know what your long-term goal for your set will be, I will be happy to work with you on how to best get that exact set on your home table.
I have not decided on the exact quantities but the Key West is going to be my dream set.

I won't be happy with anything less than 1,000 chips. That's just the floor.

As I said, I don't play poker. I'm using my chipsets as a home blackjack game. Mostly, I'm simulating sessions as a red and green chipper, therefore the main bulk will be $5 and $25, snappers for paying out naturals where applicable, a little more of the hundos and a little less of the higher denoms. That's phase 1.

Phase 2.....I like to build a lower stake set with fracs and $1 (both the whites and the blues).

Add to all this, Key West playing cards and chip carriers with racks because I like to display them when they are not in play.

I used to toy with this idea of a custom set from CPC but that idea fell out of favor because I personally find more appeal in buying a chip-line that has a real history and commercial personalities behind it even though this is suppose to be a fantasy set. What can be better than the timeless retro vibe, given form in the storied H-Mold, made by successors of the legendary ASM and pressed on the original machines, the only ones that ever existed for the H-Mold. [edit] And I also love the way you have built an ethos around Key West and market it like a real casino. All those nice little casino touches add to the vibe and appeal of the brand. The 'redeemable for cash' on those Blue $1 is particularly neat, although in all honesty, it will be highly unlikely I will ever redeem any of mine when I acquire them. I'm notorious for hoarding and hanging on to every single chip I buy, even those in odd lots.

I'm only filling out odds and ends to complete my last Paulson set, but other than that, all my chipping budget for the next two years will be devoted to Key Wests.

I'll be sure to make a beeline for the Used Chip Section when I get home next month.

Changes to sample sets:

As part of this weekend's roll-out of the new $2 chip, I've decided to change how we do the "sample sets." Two changes:

First, the "live" chips won't be included in the samples, but you can add them for face value.

The reason: I keep track of who owns all the live blue $1 chips. There's a list. Right now, there are a lot of people who bought samples that included a live blue $1 chip, and there's a long list of people to whom I owe $1. It does not make sense to tie up that many $1 live chips unless the person actually wants the $1 live chip.

I also don't want to tie up lots of $2 live chips the same way.

Second, the NCV chip won't be included in the samples any more. We'll still have NCV chips, but they won't be part of the standard sample set.

The reason: Again, lots of single NCV chips out there. In the past five years, only one person has actually bought a rack of NCV chips. Also, with nine colors of solid roulette chips now available, players can assign any value to a roulette chip -- an odd denomination, a free drink, etc. The NCV has lost its purpose as a stand-in chip.

New sample sets...

will be up this week. They'll include: 5-cent, 25-cent, $1 (white), $2.50, $5, $20, $25, $100, $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $25,000. Sample sets of those 12 chips will be $21.50 on the Key West site. PCF members will get $1 off the cost of samples.

The live blue $1 and $2 chips can be added to your sample set for face value if you'd like them.

At first, I was concerned about dirty stack and dirty pot issues with the $2 chip with the blue $1 chip. Upon looking at the photo of all of the chips put together, my concerns are less than they were.

The snappers still make more sense for me to have with the starting stacks I utilize for my home cash game, but I'll be ordering a shuffle stack of the $2 chips with my next order, Dennis :)

I worried a bit about this, too, but then I saw the two chips together. You really don't confuse them. The $1 is a much darker blue, and has yellow spots. The light blue $2 has white spots. The base and spot colors tend to make the blue $1 chip look darker and the light blue $2 look lighter. They're actually easy to tell apart.

And the $2 works with both $1 chips.]

Dennis do you have any plans to have denominations on ur solid chips? I think ppl would be interested in tournament chips like the roulettes but w denominations on them to accommodate a tournament set up

This could certainly be something to consider in the future, if there is interest.

There are multiple challenges to adding new denominations. I'd need to order lots of chips -- at least 10,000, probably 15,000 or more. I would need to pay for them up front, so lots of cash. Finally, there's the long, long wait. Classic seems to be putting the H mold in once a year now. We'd need to wait until the next run. While there is no estimate of when that would be, I'm guessing it will be some time in the second half of 2020.

Since my largest set is a Key West cash set...I might be biased....but

This set has seen most play of all my sets....by players demand.
And even though I did buy my chips on the sencond hand market, Dennis has always been there to help me out.
It's amazing how much effort he puts in the Key West brand and keeps on updating and evolving.

By far this is the best value CPC/ASM set you can get besides going custom and paying premium.
Keep up the good work Dennis, if you decide to offer tourney denoms on solids....i'm down for a 1K set in 2020.

Just a reminder to everyone to make sure to post in the Bounty Chip giveaway.

Post only once. We'll use a random number generator to pick the winner of 10 free new Key West Bounty chips, shipped anywhere. The drawing will be shown live on Facebook in December. If your post number comes up, you win.

Here's a link to the giveaway:

Damn Dennis, those are some great looking additions to the line. My wallet curses you but you know I will need them. Let me see what the budget can handle and I'll be reaching out.

Tell me about it :D I screwed my wallet this month because I fell into temptation of peeking too much at the PCF Classifieds. :whistling:

The international shipping cost will be significant. It looks like I will have to abandon any idea of getting Key Wests in regular smaller lots and just accumulate funds over a longer period and acquire fewer lots but in larger bulk per shipment.

Dennis, do you anticipate CPC's announcement of their 2020 price rise will significantly affect the price / chip at Key West ?

Prices cannot possibly stay the same forever, but the increase should not be "significant."

I have not taken a look at how the change will affect my stock of Key Wests. While waiting for a large order to arrive from Classic, I don't have enough information to answer right now.

But we'll always offer Key Wests for less than Classic's retail price, and there will always be a PFC discount.

You can now use a credit card to buy Key West items.

I'll post a separate thread to announce this to the wider community, but you can now order anything sold on the Key West site and pay with a credit card. Send your order via PM here, and I'll send you a link to pay the amount due with your credit card through Square.

The company is reputable and secure. At my end, they charge the same as PayPal. If it offers a new option and more convenience to customers, it's worth it.

Recently, I've been talking to my state's small business development office and my business tax advisor to try to address a myriad of new state tax laws for e-commerce across the U.S. The new laws mean that if I ship anything to you, I might have to charge your state's sales tax on your purchase, then send it to your state, and file a tax return in your state.

The new laws are designed to effectively target e-commerce in favor of local brick-and-mortar stores. Opponents say they were backed and pushed by WalMart to push small companies (like mine) out of business.

For now, it looks like business as usual into 2020. We'll see how this shakes out.

Dennis, are you planning on a price increase starting in the New Year? I'm trying to plan out when/how I'm going to start building the cash set part of my Key West set.

This was answered in Post # 75, above. Several things will need to happen before I can guess at prices.

I'm waiting for the last part of a larger order -- around 14,000 chips -- from Classic. Until the shipment arrives, I won't know how many chips I actually bought. Classic usually sends a few extra chips in each denomination, but I doubt even they know exactly how many chips they'll be making. So if I have 6,000 chips in stock and order 14,000 chips, I calculate how much I spent on all 20,000 chips (different prices at different times.) Then just divide by 20,000 for the average actual cost of each chip.

Once I know how many chips I have, and what each chip cost, I need to see how much of the profits from other things I can put into the pot to keep the price down.

If I get that part wrong, I basically go broke and the company goes out of business. Guess too early, and maybe set the price too low to be able to make up in other sales. That would run the business out of money to pay bills like the license, website fees, transaction fees from PayPal and credit cards. (Those fees are big every year. PayPal says "2.9 + $0.30." In reality, PayPal gets between 5 and 6 percent of the sale because we get so many very small orders.

I understand and appreciate why you'd like to know. I'm waiting for the final pieces of that puzzle myself.

I've been selling Key West chips below cost since 2012, and only raised prices once (in 2014).

New chip prices for 2020 have been posted in a separate thread. Here's the link:

LINK: Key West 2020 chip prices

Denominated chips will increase by 10 cents per chip in 2020. Solid roulette chips will increase by 3 cents per chip.

The last increase was in 2014, and this one probably should have been done a year or two ago. In order to keep Key West available, this was unavoidable.

I also want to say "thank you" to everyone for their support of Key West, and all the great comments.

Key West's upcoming monthly contests and giveaways

In January, we're doing a dealer button giveaway. I wanted to give proper credit to our friends at ABC Gifts and Awards for the beautiful job they did creating our latest run of 2-inch ceramic dealer buttons. If you haven't entered already, here's the link:

Link to the KW DB Contest!

In February, we'll be highlighting our new $2 chips by giving away some $2 live chips and some $2 bills.

In March, we'll be playing blackjack at our Key West table again for a chance to win free stuff. We'll kick it off on March 2, dubbed "National Blackjack Day." The date was selected to highlight 3 to 2 blackjack payouts (the date is 3/2), and to remind casinos that players prefer 3 to 2, not 6 to 5. I'm trying to actually set up some live, interactive blackjack games for some time in March.

Have a contest idea? I'd love to hear it. Send a PM to me here on PCF.

And good luck to everyone who enters!

By that logic, we should all boycott the blackjack tables on every June 5.

Dennis,

I'm looking at a picture of your 1,000 chip carrier at the Key West Casino product page. I am wondering if the empty space above the top rack is able to accommodate another rack for a total of two additional racks making it 1,200 chips :-

No, there's not enough space for another rack. The chips sit very near the top of the carrier. The photo was taken at an angle that makes the space appear larger than it actually is.

No worries Dennis. But regardless, I'll be putting in an order for one of these along with racks in short order. Please wait for my PM.

The March blackjack giveaway is now open. To enter, simply post the word "entered." You can enter each week between Sunday at noon and Friday at 8.

On Friday night, we'll pick a random post, and that PCF member can play a hand of blackjack live via phone and video with us, and we'll put up their $2 bet. Since you can double down or split, the maximum possible win is $8.

I'm thinking this month will be a test run for some $5 blackjack games later. Just working out any issues that might pop up.

The site doesn't work properly. I tried to click to add a sample set and it won't put it in the cart. What am I doing wrong? I also was going to buy a $2 chip to no avail. (I might as well add a 1 and a 2 at this rate)
