"Inlay Replacement" (1 Viewer)

Ok. Thank goodness I only murder RHC/IHC chips (so far), and none of those are collectable according to most of the grumpy yell at the clouds chip community.

"Custom stickers" sounds more fun than "custom labels" anyhow. Back to my next chip inlay removal and stickering project.

Y'all can do whatever you want to your chips, but we can get an agreement that removing an inlay and replacing it with a sticker (don't give me any of that "label" BS - it's a f'ing sticker) does not qualify as "inlay replacement"?

When speaking of poker chips, isn't the nature of an inlay that it is "inlaid" in the chip before pressing?

I get that there are some great sets that are made playable by the addition of sticker chips, but they really are the equivalent of a kit car.

And you sick f'ers that are destroying collectible chips are the equivalent of people who plasti dip high end cars.

End rant.

P.S. I am sitting on my front porch and also just yelled at someone to get off my yard.

Happy Father's Day, good night.

I’m sorry, but If someone is “murdering” poker chips as you put it at least we can assume they bought the chips for their own use, and are handcrafting as part of their hobby, I.e., giving their chips love. I have infinitely more respect for them than I do for people who spend a gajillion dollars of their disposable income warehousing poker chips in their closet so they can, “whoopsies! Selling these at a markup to work on another project...”

I'm hoping to mill these and fill them with an awesome custom label and hope it adds value vs subtracting. I do hear what you are saying and I think fun nite, starburst and an ad chip can hopefully have another life

Wow, that's a lot of milling! (I recently did over 3000 - ouch)
Big cash set? Tourney set? Both?

If you make something you like, it will add value for you. But I can’t remember seeing anybody pay a premium for somebody else’s semi customs.

what about all the fake paulsons?( not fake, not real casino) i've seen premium paid

I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Are you talking about the Star (boat) chips or the Big Top Poker, or whatever that Dunes knockoff beach set was?
people are paying a premium for those because they’re mint factory paulsons, and/or because they have amazing edge spots and most are oversized.
I have to wonder if you’re pulling my leg here or if I’m misunderstanding you. But if you think you’re going to mill and label 39mm Paulson solids and end up with something worth ore than it was before, I’m just saying don’t count on it.
to the extent that you save somebody else the labor or cost of milling - yeah maybe.

I'd pay more for a milled solid than a solid with a useless hotstamp.

Yeah. Agreed. I'll say most won't gain a ton past being more useful, but a rare few could gain a bit. I've had more people ask about those Yellow 3D14s and make some serious offers for them... Before I milled them, they were passed around a Ton...

That's the thing. I think we should all be careful about what we are murdering and try to stick to chips that will be improved by the murder.

But there are a plenty of chips, like those yellow 3d14s and the fabulous frequency t100s that make a perfect $5, that are vastly improved and made functional after a good murder.

..... I have 800 of those in my shop right now...

Yep. 200 of 'em lived here for quite awhile, but never could figure out how to use them (this was in the pre-murder era).

in a way those are custom and and if you dont like the label than take it off and make it your own. those were never in a casino. i was never in this to make money but i think i can improve on those solids and make them better

Which were the yellow 3D14s?

I quite like the btps. The sunsets really do suck though and are a collection of some nice very chips and a couple of disappointing ones. They just don't work as a set so you are doing them a service and allowing them to fulfil their destiny by murdering them

Let's just call it a labeling. Whether it's labeling blanks, milling to label, removing inlays and label....

I get that it offends some people. Though if you are piecing a set together from a company that no longer exists, sometimes it's your only option. Want Paulsons, BCC, or TR King with your art on them? This is your only option unless you 'know a guy'. Most of us weren't invited to the recent Star orders.
