I have been hosting my own tournaments now for a while now and they are fantastic. I was wondering if anybody has a good starting stack/blind structure for a 100k starting stack. The lowest denom being T25 and the highest. being T100. I like the idea of having a high roller tournament every so often.

If anybody has any suggestions to my query above or something completely different but in the high roller way do tell!

First of All,

Welcome to PCF

The lowest denom being T25 and the highest. being T100.
100k starting stack
That will mean a Starting stack of 2000 BB for T25 if Level 1 blind is 25/50 and 1000 BB for T100 if Level 1 Blind is 100/100

Might be an typo but you will mean you are looking to run a Deep Stack Poker Tourney which is very uncommon for home game for obvious reason

Also, you should have more than 2 denoms, ideally 4-5. A T10k that start at 25-50 for instance would use:

T25 x 12
T100 x 12
T500 x 5
T1000 x 6
T5000s (possibly. For rebuys and color-ups)

Welcome to PCF. A place where all your questions can be answered, your oddities made to appear normal, and your fetishes amplified.

For the record we’re talking about poker ok?

Welcome.

I usually do a starting stack of 20,000 and have the blinds start at 50/100. 8(T25s) - 8(T100s) - 6(T500s) - 6(T1ks) - 2(T5ks) with rebuys and add ons. I am currently have a set of poker chips with denominations from T25 to T100k. I was looking for a use for the 100Ks. Starting stack of 100K because then I will actually use the T100K every so often.
Thanks,

High roller and tournament structure are completely different concepts. A good structure is good regardless of what your buyins and payouts are.

2000BB is crazy deep if you're starting 25/50. Starting 100/200 and having NCV denoms up to 25000 at least would still be quite deep at 100k/500BB but you have a chance at finishing in 5-6 hours.

Welcome!
Just for comparison, and in agreement with what’s been said here, I think you may need to rethink your structure a bit.

I run a deep stack tournament for my monthly home game…
It’s a single table of anywhere from 7-10 players, T100, with a starting stack of 40,000.

The tourney is run like the casino tourneys using a big blind ante equal to the big blind , so it starts at 100sb/200bb/200bba

At these stakes (200bb starting stack), even with the extra pot dollars due to the bba, it still takes us 5-6 hours to get down to the last 2 or 3 players who then usually chop it. Part of this is the stack size, but I also do a slow increase in blinds to promote long play as this is primarily a social event— low buy in ($25, no rebuy), top 30% of places get prize money (so 9 players pays 3 places), and everyone brings food to share on the buffet table.

Just as an FYI, here’s my breakdown of starting chip stack:
T100 Tourney, 40K Chips Starting Chip Stacks: 15-7-10-5
$100 x 15 = $1,500
$500 x 7 = $3,500
$1000 x 10 = $10,000
$5000 x 5 = $25,000
Total = $40,000

I have a total of 700 chips that could seat as many as 16 players with these stacks, but we don’t play that big right now.

Blind structure:

Projected to end at level 19, but typically chops at 16 or 17.

Note that in my structure I only have 1 color up of black $100 chips due to the purposefully slow blind increases… and we don’t need a chip higher than $5K.

Soooo, if you want a super high roller tournament, maybe you can fudge it a bit by shifting everything up by a factor of ten with $1000/$2000 blinds and a starting stack of $400,000?

Otherwise, if you start with HUUUUGE stacks and low blinds, you’re looking at a multi-day tourney (like the PokerGo Super High Roller on tv).

Good luck!

@PokerDogDoc In my tournament we start with 20,000 and the blinds start at 50/100 after the first 4 levels of blinds I have a big blind ante equal to the big blind. It lasts around 5 to 6 hours. I allow one rebuy per person and 1 add on up to the second break. I also have an on time bonus of 2000 and an exact change bonus of 500. The buy in is $60.

I do however like the idea of adding a 0 at the end so instead of 50/100 it would be 500/1000. I will do some tweaking. If I did a 100k starting stack that would be 100 BB. Ill do some research. Thanks all for the helpful info.

It depends alot on how much time you got. Think in terms of Blinds and the amount of blinds you start with, instead of the T-value you start with. I host 25/50 starting blinds for a T-10,000, this gives 200 BBs to start, Because I need the tournament to finish in around 4-5 hours, that makes sense on a single night. The buy-in value is whatever you want. However, when the blinds are doubled to 50/100, you suddenly got a shorter stack of 100 blinds which is, I consider an normal stack. Again with shortening the blind structure time periods or reducing the stack size, you can adjust the tournament length to pretty much however you want. 50 Big Blinds too short to start. 100 big blinds is normal. 75 big blinds is also a bit short after blinds are doubled after first round. And you can adjust each individual blinds round o suit, even if it's getting late into the night. The idea is you can adjust everything to suit your allocated time period, be it a day, an night, or a hour. Good luck
