hey whats up everyone I am cleaning and about to put into play some of my Horseshoe Cleveland Chips finally I don't have a ultrasonic or anything like that

I am cleaning by hand and it sucks esp the $1s they are so hit lol anyways my question is does anyone know what is the best thing to use to clean these chips by hand

I am just using dawn dishsoap a firm toothbrush and like a brillo dish scrubber brush thing

Hope to hear what you have to say thanks

Before I got my ultrasonic, I used Oxy-clean and a dish scrub brush. I would also use a magic eraser on the edges of an entire barrel... and sometimes on the faces. If you ever get a second set of casino used chips... get an ultrasonic... its worth every penny.

Magic eraser lightly on the rolling edges works wonders.

and a dish scrub brush
Yes. Unless you're giving yourself penance for unmentionable sins of the past (or unless you're cleaning hot stamp chips) a toothbrush is a terrible choice.

Tooth brush does not work very well. Magic eraser and dawn with warm water is the best choice. Buy a lot of it, u will go through it.

the edges I just hold the chips together as a barrel and scrub them I do need to figure out how to use a ultra sonic and find out which one is cheap I can buy

a brush with a dip bucket of rubbing alcohol for both the chip and the brush then a water/soap and water pale will clean off any human "scum" material from plastics. Plus from the dollar store a whole bottle to clean a bunch of chips is about a buck. If you need some scrubbing grit add a bit of course salt to the alcohol

Don't skimp on the ultrasonic. The more you pay, the more transducers you have, the more cleaning POWAH, the happier a chipper you are.

Cheap ultrasonics will leave you dissatisfied with their cleaning potential.

I have a limit set of the $1s. They are horrible to get clean. Ran them through the ultrasonic and they were still not clean enough for me. (Thinking color transfer is the main culprit).

the only thing that I found that works was running a magic eraser over the whole chip. Face and edges. That got them “clean”. At least to my standard.

Magic eraser works well on the faces, but not at getting the crud out of the outer ring and H/C

I guess the ultrasonic did it’s job there.

I used the back of an exacto knife for the stuck on hooker juice

If you think you may ever get another casino used set... I'd invest in an ultrasonic now. There are some good threads discussing what specs you want in an ultrasonic. Just search "ultrasonic"

could you tell me a couple that are nice to get if you have any in mind ?

Also note if going the Magic eraser and oxiclean route... allow about 10 minutes to soak. Cut the eraser into 8 equal squares (it is a pain trying to use to big of a piece of eraser) also try to buy the 4 x strong erasers as opposed to the originals. Also a small amount of oxiclean goes a long ways!!

just sucks spending a bunch to clean like 2,000 chips and prob never use it again I dont have the funds most do to buy crazy amounts of chips I might just say F it keep like 500 for myself and sell the rest on fee bay

It's a long term investment... It's worth it.
