It really chaps my ass to see this guy do this kind of shit. He has so much talent. He could easily be a top performer in the NHL but for the little voice he hears once and a while.
I hate him. I love him. I'd just like to see him in his leader role than his Sean Avery role.
The thing is he IS a top player in the league, even with that nasty edge

Statistically, yes. Respectively, no. I guess it's a character issue. Tkachuk was a nasty bastard, too. But he carried himself like a true captain. He was a warrior who often crossed the line but his fellow NHLers never lost respect for him. Me personally hold that in higher regard than merely being statistically relevant. He has that potential, too. I've seen him do tv interviews. He's quite the guy. But in desperate need of coping strategies.
Marchand will be a popular name in hockey well after he retires from play. If he's given the opportunity I could see him coaching. But more likely on ESPN or TSN.

Many of the big name players are a bunch of softies, more concerned about their country club lifestyles than actually winning. I also tend to like the crazy players so I’m a little biased. Marchand needs to play this way (for whatever reason) to be an elite player. It doesn’t make sense, but that’s half the fun.

Played in the Detroit Red Wings charity tourney last night at the MCC. Was a lot of fun, terrible blind structure. (7k starting stack, blinds up every 12 minutes, 100/200, 200/400, 300/600, etc). But it’s a charity tournament, so I get it. Was over in about 4 hours. I had Andreas Athanasiou at my table. I Busted nowhere near the final table lol

Yeah it was pretty fun. Mantha, Bertuzzi, AA, McCarty, Mickey Redmond, Larry Murphy, Frk, Helm, were all there. There was 12-15 wings or so. Pretty cool.
I played in a charity tournament for the Lightning years ago - final tabled and got to play with Martin St. Louis for a couple of hours. Also played with Andreychuk - lots of fun + a 5K cash.
