If you’re buying new or used it’s a good idea to go to a golf shop where you can test out different clubs. Even before you spend money, I’d recommend budgeting for lessons more than new clubs.
I just want surface level at the moment. Just hitting the driver. I'm going for just the used driver at the moment. I'm sure I can manage without lessons with YouTube.

Mate don’t watch YouTube videos about how to hit a ball. It will fuck with your head.

The best videos on YouTube are the ones that deal with course management. You’ll learn more from them than watching a guy hit a ball over and over.

The driver is the toughest club to hit and not being able to hit it puts a lot of people off.

Seriously book a lesson with a pro. If you’re a natural and you’re bombing the ball 250 yards plus every time then great, you don’t need to book another lesson.

The best thing I ever did was to get a 9 hole lesson on a golf course. I learned so much in that lesson.

As for the Taylomade driver. It’ll suit some people it won’t suit others. Try a few and one will suit you more than others. You can waste so much money if you go buying clubs without testing them.

I use a Cleveland driver. Not a fashionable make but it’s the one that I’m most consistent with.

Not trying to lecture you just trying to save you money and years of heartache (I speak from experience).

One more thing (I’m like Columbo haha).

This is one of the best golf purchases I’ve ever made. This book will help you manage your expectations (and temper) on the golf course.

I wish I’d read it when I first started playing.

I'm looking to get into golfing.

Is the TaylorMade M1 a good starter driver?
It's perfect that you are a chipper so you will understand the "golf club syndrome". Basically people get stuck on spending money to up their game. Clubs make you better at golf a very small percentage. If I had to guess at a number maybe 5%. Most of it is in your head. It's like buying holy grail chips to be better at poker. I took lessons a few times throughout the years. First in elementary school. Then I joined the middle school golfing practice program, then tried out for high-school golfing team. Learned a ton each time. Really solidified my basic swing. Whenever I start having issues I just remember the basics. Invest in lessons. You'll be very happy that you did. By the way, I'm still using a set of Dunlops I bought about 20 years ago from a big 5 sale. My second set ever. They feel great and I'm relatively consistent if I'm practicing on a normal basis. Steel irons and graphite hybrids/drivers. I like the control of steel irons. Good luck. I hope you like it.

Man, sorry we can’t cross paths! What Casino(s) are you going to? I’m hitting the road now back up to Jackson. Good luck my friend!
Was just checking the Bravo app. My mother in law lives in Ocean Springs so we are like 5 minutes away from everything. Probably going to go to Boomtown cause they have Omaha running.

Looking to buy a new set of clubs, since my son started playing a few years ago I’ve been playing a lot more. I have an ancient set of King Cobras, they’ve done fine for me through the years. I’m not really into golf equipment, any suggestions? Looking for a forgiving set, price doesn’t really matter. I hit long off the tee and am inconsistent with my low irons. Thinking of a 5-AW iron set, a hybrid or two, 3 wood and driver. Keeping my Ping putter, only took 20 years to get it figured out so it stays.

Budget? If you have a second swing near you, you can get really nice used clubs. Some players get new sets every year, and they are “like new”. I’ve gotten some nice clubs there

My son pointed me to Calloway preowned, thinking I may go “like new” route, I don’t need this years model- but i don't mind spending, if i can get decent technology in a like new package, saving a a few bucks sounds good to me

Golfballs.com retail center is in my home city. Their used selection in incredible. I got my P790s after someone used them a few times and hated them. Guy gave me a straight trade on my old Titleist AP2 irons!

Point being, you can get some great deals on previously used irons. Some golfers believe “the club is the problem” and will bring them back after only a couple uses. They are basically the same as buying an open-box version of a Best Buy product.

I would recommend you get fitted. PGA superstore does free fittings I think. It sounds like you’re looking for a forgiving set, but something you can grow into and grow your game. I would recommend you look into “player irons” and “game improvement irons”. I play titleist so I’m biased towards them. Their t200 and t350 lines have gotten great reviews, I’m in line for t150 fittings in Spring. Ping also makes great irons. I recommend you swing a number of clubs. I thought I’d like Mizunos, but when I tried them I couldn’t swing them. The looks could also be a factor, the forgiving irons have a thicker top line and large offset that some people don’t like seeing. I play Cobra driver and love them, but Taylormade drivers are forgiving. I’d be hesitant about TM durability, as it’s new tech each year.

I'm flying down to Orlando to play Thursday - Sunday. Hitting the following courses
Th - Disney Magnolia
Fr - Falcons Fire
Sa - Disney Palms
Su - Champions Gate National.

I suck at golf. Never broken 100. One day. Even with all of my lessons, I still stink. I know why, but can't get the crap out of my head. Maybe this weekend will be better

Throw your 3 wood in the bin.

If you don’t hit a driver well leave it at home.

Hit a hybrid off the tee and again for your second shot. That will get you on or near the green on most par 4s.

Don’t hit elaborate flop shots. If you’re not far off the green putt with a hybrid.

If you don’t have a hybrid i can’t help you  :ROFLMAO:

This video helped me when I first started out. It’s dated now but you’ll get the idea.
