Anybody who drops a big chunk of change on custom chips without first having color samples in hand either has no regard for money or is a fucking idiot. Especially if they hang around here, where every other thread has warnings about getting samples FIRST.

No offense intended, but if the shoe fits....

Geez, I got samples BG. Calm your "fucking idiot" bombs and thanks for contributing.

Glad to hear this is no longer true:

Nope, hasn't been for a while. Thanks for noticing though.

You're right I really should get samples.

I'm looking for a color sample set from Classic Poker Chips (aka ASM). I'm pretty close to finishing the inlay design and color selection but I spose I really should see the colors with my own eyes before buy.

If you have an color sample set from CPC, even an incomplete one, I'd love to get it from you. Willing to trade or buy or even borrow if you're not using it. Shipping to Canada.

Thanks,

All that aside, I'm baffled that you're a moderator here with such a cancerous way of communicating with people. This community is full of people with fine friendly attitudes, but you are the absolute only one I've seen who insists on communicating like they're at ten year old. So my question is, why the choice to call people "fucking idiots" instead of offering help and adding to a discussion?

Not a mod. And I speak the truth.

Oh, come on, there are other 10 year olds on the forum. Some of them are hilarious (@bergs).

Nope. But I will point out that I didn't call anybody anything (unlike you), and I've offered plenty of help and discussion itt. No interest in getting into a battle with you. Grow up.

This is exactly you calling me a fucking idiot for not getting samples. You even went as far to say "if the shoe fits", specifying that this is clearly intended for me.

You have offered plenty of help to me and others and I'm grateful for for it. That's why I come here. I don't come here to be called a fucking idiot. Comments like that are a detriment to this community. Mainly because they discourage people from contributing knowing they might be berated by tenured community members.

My intention isn't to battle. I'm only inquiring the reasoning behind your actions. If you can't explain them, that's a battle you'll have to fight with yourself. A lot of your posts are this cancerous. Hopefully me pointing it out to you and others might cause you to think twice about the way to communicate to others.

Peacemaker stepping in...

Please don't take offence. BG's writing probablly didn't read with the same tone that he wrote it. On March 14th you said you didn't have samples. Most people don't move quickly enough to pick them up in just 8 days. His thinking you didn't have samples was a mathematically correct decision.

Also, the intent of his statement: anyone spending (ballpark) $1000 without seeing how the chips would actually look is either a spendthrift, or just plain daft. Since multiple people shouted Get Samples First, BG could only parrot the same thing the rest of us said, but with feeling.

His statement should not be taken as a slight toward you, any more than it should be taken as a slight toward future set builders that look at this thread looking for ideas and think they should do it without getting samples.

Yes, BG's wording was crass. His photo is posted at every US/Canadian border crossing, with the note "Do not let this man in - He's just not polite enough"

...and it's posted on both sides of the border.

Just playing around:

I'm not sure how set on your colors you are, I know some of these are a lot brighter than you mocks. while I like spot progression, I am not tied to it, however your 5 and 25 (more so the 5) seemed a little ho hum. I know your 1 is your workhorse and "focal point" I tried to give the others a little punch too

ETA looks like you came up with a couple of the same as I did while I was mocking(y)

I'm not a fan of 3TA316 since it reminds me of Nexgen Lucky Bees. I'm also against red and blue on the same chip, lol. I like the others though. I think my $5 chip is a done deal in the most recent post, so I'm trying to build around that by either trying to keep the edges as different as possible from each other or having them work together, like all xD14 edges.

My quarter isn't set in stone but I love the butterscotch, maroon and yellow combo.

Also, I like the white with blue edges but it looks soo much like the classic white with blue edges dice chip. I might go back to a blue dollar with pink n dark blue edges. Gonna see how white normal white is once my samples arrive. From pics I've seen it's quite dirty looking so I might just go blue.

Today's incarnation. Different edge style on each chip. We have a 12, a 16, a D14 and an A14. Quarter is kind plane but it's a fractional which rarely are very elaborate. Also saves a good amount of $ since it's a L2, vs the L4 I was using for it.

Think I could pay for my set to lock in the price before I finalized the colors?

Guess I could email and ask.

Looking good. I like the recent changes.

Suggestion: You can add another color to one of the 1/2" spots on your quarter of you want and still stay within a lvl 2 price tag. And maybe make your fiver a 4D14 so the spot pattern is different from your dollar.

I just realized 212 is a L1 edgespot. :)

I was toying around with two color 212 but it didn't feel right for me. Good point about the making the the $5 a 4D14 but I really love the $5 as it is. Perhaps I could change the quarter and $1.

I love the simplicity of your inlays and denom. You can literally go very simple with the edgespots or very complex, completely up to you. I would say you should settle on base colors first....then work on deciding if you want a standard progression: from a level perspective and amount of edgespots. Then work on your colors for the edgespots.

either way, I dont think you can go wrong, all personal opinion though. Just have some method to your decisions, it will make the process less tedious
