Hi there, I'm looking for advice on my first custom plaques. The set is a Frankenstein monster, but tied together as a New Orleans theme.

These are rough mockups of the plaques I'm planning, based on 1800's banknotes.

The chips in the set are mixed Harrah's btw, T5 (Red), T25 (Green), $100 (Black), $500 (Purple).

I'd appreciate any feedback, and specifically:

  • Do you think these would work as Tina ceramic plaques? Do Tinas come in different sized in ceramic to differentiate the denominations?
  • I often play with the denominations as 100x, i.e. 25 is 25 cents, $100 is a dollar. I do this to feel rich  . Should I mark the plaques as 2,000 and 10,000 in some way for consistency/tournament?
  • Do you recommend a border, or can I just put the chip color on the side (I'm thinking blue/silver 20, black/gold 100)?
  • Is $20 and $50 more logical than 20/100? It's for cash games, $50 buy in is the norm and I have a lot of chips.

I can only comment on the design, and I love em! I say go with the hundreds, chances are people will buy in and top off with $20s

Unfortunately, the dye-sublimation process used to make ceramic plaques and chips is unable to produce fine detail. The art you have will print a muddy mess. It’s just that the ink tends to bleed slightly in the process of transferring to the ceramic surface. Fine lines get blurred, and thick lines get thicker.
Here is an example, art is on the left, printed chip on the right:

And look at the text at the bottom of the chip here:

Very helpful @Colquhoun! Thank you.

I see what you mean, and I think I can adjust. Does the manufacturer make a big difference on the sharpness of a plaque print? BR Pro for instance.

No, I think it’s the process. In the examples I showed above, the skeleton on the horse was a BRPro dealer button and the Aladdin chip was Tina.
