Are there any other companies out there that make custom playing cards other than makeplayingcards? Their cards are too stiff for my liking.

There are very recent reviews but no “products” currently. Maybe they disabled for the holidays. Would be interesting to see after the new year if they become available again.

Looks like makeplayingcards says 100% plastic is an option. Runs about $22-$25 a deck depending on design. Might be worth a try

@chipinla How did you custom cards go from MPC? I ordered some that just came today, and I am really impressed with the printing quality (Plastic, poker sized jumbo index). The cards feel slightly thinner than my copags, maybe a little stiffer. Downside for me is I think the card fronts - the pips are in a very small area, almost feels too small. Again I compared them to my copags, they are maybe 2-3mm smaller printing area for the pips.
But all in all, very happy with them.

I like them a lot. They look great and feel great. Maybe a little slippier than I normally would like but for 100% plastic customs without having to buy 10,000 decks I’m very pleased. The design on these is different than what I’ll be doing with my group buy. This was the first design I came up with.

Here are my pics, you can see the detail on the printing is pretty damn good. But in the other pic I have them compared to a copag deck, and you can see how much smaller the centre square is from the MPC deck to the copag deck. The font could have been bold too in order to stand out more, but that's not a big issue.

I was just looking for ways I might contribute to the forum and was going to recommend makeplayingcards. I did buy some reprints for a board game that never made it past kickstarter--Camp Grizzly--and I found the quality to be excellent. But none of the sizes are playing card size, so I can't compare the relative flexibility.
I was helping deal in a charity tournament recently that used loads and loads of custom decks from makeplayingcards. I did not like them. The cards were *very* thick, and some of the plastic coating was starting to fray from some of the card edges within 1-2 hours of use. There have got to be better small batch manufacturers out there.

Yeah. The cards I used were for a board game. Minimal shuffling and the thickness is actually a good thing with board game cards.

I have a setup from MPC. They are usable, but so terrible compared to everything else that the see the absolute least amount of table time. If all my decks were to magically disappear 15 minutes before the game and all I had left were paper cards and MPC - I honestly can't decide which one I would use.
I would sheepishly ask if one of the players could bring over a couple good setups....
I find your results to be very far off from what I encountered. (And I have the cards still here at our shop.)
With regards to thickness. I just pulled some decks and put the micrometer to them. They are the same thickness as dejgns, and angel cards. I also went through a dozen or so setups, and have not found any with fraying on them.
On top of that, some of the other dealers we had for that event, are some of the poker room supervisors for one of the local casino. They were even asking about the cards, because of how much they prefered them over what is currently being used at the casino.

Is it possible that MPC has changed/improved their production? The MPC cards I got were late 2017 / early 2018, and they were closer to @allforcharity 's experience.
AFAIK these were all newly/very recently produced cards.
It's possible? However, as I stated, I have all the cards that @allforcharity could have possibly handled. I went through roughly 3/4 of the decks on hand, and did not find any peeling/fraying or delaminating. Some of the cards were dirty (the edges did pick up dirt), however these were used at a charity poker event where food/drinks were being served.
Again, on the micrometer, the cards are within 1/100th of an inch in thickness of desjgn, and angel cards that we had on the shelf here. (also used cards)
Yep, they were all made less than a month before the event's date.

Hmm they didn't come up on my recent (ish) searches for custom playing cards. When I get back to the UK I'll order a sample set and see how much we are looking at /deck (as you need to ask for a quote!). I was originally going to order up from MPC when I get time to finish up my artwork
