As some have said, the base colors were off on the original design too (I am not a designer and so semi custom is def the best way to go for me!).
Re the 0.5 chips........I appreciate they are a redundant chip, but (given how much money and time this all is) I want to leave room for my game to grow into a 0.5/1 game in the future. I considered having a non denom chip, but figured it would never get used and I will get enough 100's and £1 to mean that even if we somehow make it too 1/2 in the years to come then I will have a bit enough bank. I like lean stacks at the table (makes cashing out easier etc) so go for 12+12+red birds to make up the rest for the original buy in. Thinking set as follows........
White: £0.25 - 125 chips
Green: £0.50 - 125 chips
Black: £1 -175 chips
Red: £5 - 200 chips
Gold: £25 - 75 chips
Blue: £100 - 50 chips
750 chips total
31.25 + 62.50 + 175 + 1000 + 1,875 + 5000 = £ 8,143.75.
One table 9 max most likely.....would be nice to be able to run 2 tables but not really my aim.........might be overkill in terms of numbers of chips which would stay under my bed and not be used?
Could go for a more modest breakdown:
White: £0.25 - 125 chips
Green: £0.50 - 125 chips
Black: £1 -125 chips
Red: £5 - 150 chips
Gold: £25 - 50 chips
Blue: £100 - 25 chips
600 chips total
31.25 + 62.50 + 125 + 750 + 1,250 + 2,500 = £4,719.75
Thoughts welcome on whether I should get the 750 or 600 or change the breakdown! Thanks all
Recently I've given chip break downs significant thought.
I can spread a non raked .25/.50 game with 80 fracs, 200 1, 100 5, 60 20, its tight but you can do it. Thats 420 chips, I wouldn't recommend it.
I point it out only to say I'm glad you're looking at the bank and well over the concern of least amount of chips.
I like the green chip better than the red or blue and I would advocate taking red out of the lineup altogether, and re-purpose the green chip. I'm bias I get it.
We could have droves of people discuss removing the .50 chip, its your money. At the end of the day you will see a few .50 chips, they do exist, but its not because someone needs a .50 chip, its because of the inserts / color and the way it fits into the set, you'll see far fewer ceramic .50 chips. It is a waste of a chip, it actually adds more effort than any appeal it can offer when you have a .25.
If you want the color or the chip in the mix because of a sunken cost fallacy, then simply change the denom to 2.50 or 3 or 13, but don't have a .50 chip. TheOffalo is spot on with the comment.
Even if your game moves to .50/1, it's a 2-chip SB, 1-chip BB, which isn't any "harder" than .25/.50, which is a 1-chip SB, 2-chip BB.
Fracs are often better NOT white, I would change the color to be the blue, and make the 100 white, and then the 1 green and the 5 yellow, then the 20 grey, if you do this you'll need to buy a very large stick, grown men will tell you how sexy they are with a droll and a stare that will you feel objectified.
