CPC vs Paulson (4 Viewers)

If I have Paulson and CPC chips side by side, I can see a difference in the feel. However when I played in a tourney last year with a set of CPC customs (which were gorgeous ... I wanted to take them home), I thought the CPC's felt perfect. Had I not gone all crazy and put together a Vegas house mold Paulson cash set, I would have gone CPC customs and been 100% happy with them

I have both (1,800 CPCs, 800 home Paulsons, 1,180 casino and/or NAGB Paulsons) but the experience of putting together a nice, THC, mint Paulson set (or any Paulson set) has been a lot more expensive, long, and occasionally frustrating, than ordering from CPC.
CPC is a lot better for your soul, especially if outside North America, where you can't have chips circulating among members at a negligible transfer price.

I am contemplating getting a CPC set in the future. A tribute set for the poker tournament in Casino Royale. Except using references to the fictional spa town in the novel, Royale-Les-Eaux. Only need 600 chips in 3 denoms. But the 160 plaques would probably be killer (on the wallet).

I received my set and wanted to share here. Very happy with the results. Although I still contend that Paulsons have cleaner and more uniform edges and feel better, I'm kinda digging CPC's little lead(?) flecks that give it a slight sparkle under the lights.

I'm attaching "raw" pics and also oiled pics with a very light rubbing of mineral oil. Makes a huge difference (I probably could've used more oil but was afraid of making it gunky).

One thing I wasn't too happy with was that all the chips had a bit of dirty clay residue that I had to brush off manually one by one... They were in the crevices of the molds so it was a PITA. I used a Sonicare toothbrush. Also, I experimented with leaving a couple of chips in water for a couple of days and it actually faded the colors. So if you're cleaning the chips in water, don't leave em in too long.

Thanks for all your advice along the way!

Oh man didn’t read this thread but I can answer the OP title. This may make people mad but I noticed the graphics on A few of the the custom inlays are not as clear and sometimes “pixilated” if that makes sense. Not sure who’s fault that is designer, printer, or manufacturer but I am not a fan of slightly pixelated “fuzzy” inlays, I’m a big fan of samples. =)

@red309 these look great! Can we you post some closeups of the faces?

The manufacturing dust is common with all new clay chips. Quick cleaning takes care of it or if you put the chips in play it will go away over time. A lot of folks like to very lightly oil the rolling edges to bring out the colors. Very lightly is the key.

Folks might have warned you not to soak them for days. Maybe it’s the moon or something but latley some poor chips are getting soup treatment. Another guy boiled his for reasons I still don’t understand. Hopefully not many of your chips were affected.
