Could the people who said they dislike Paulson's 4TSA18 spot style elaborate a bit?
Tastes are different, but I am really curious as to why.
I don't know spot patterns off the top of my head, is that the Aztar 100?

Any red chip that's not the Mirage $5. For some reason, I really dislike red chips. Older Bellagio $5's, Ti $5's, and the Wynn $5's are fine too as they have very similar spot patterns to the Mirage $5 in the same red with white colors. I'll also give a free pass to the Caesar's $5 as I just love that entire set. The rest of the red chips suck (n)
Ceramics over CC any day. I have Paulsons, CPC and ceramics. The cool thing about ceramics is i dont give a crap how people treat themI think I like ceramics more than CCs. Hard to put into words, but it has something to do with honesty -- like a ceramic chip knows what it is and what it's not. A CC's only purpose is a low-cost replacement for something else.
That said, I sort of want these chips: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/cc-dunes-cash-set.34834/

I like ceramics so far but I haven't messed with many. The day of the dead chips are pretty nice and ceramics can have super vivid colors.Ceramics over CC any day. I have Paulsons CPC and ceramics. The cool thing about ceramics is i dont give a crap how people treat them

Joking aside, the bold part of your quote is exactly right. The China Clay is an attempt to get close to the look and feel of a compression-molded chip at a fraction of the cost. There was and still is a market for these chips - people who want something better than dice chips but cannot afford or do not like the other options available.
When I got my first set of CCs (Desert Palms tourney set) several years ago, I said that it was 80% of a Paulson for 20% of the price. I might choose slightly different numbers today, but I think the sentiment is still true.
The key to enjoying CCs is never handle paulsons. I had a full set of Dunes CC which I painstakingly cleaned and oiled by hand. I loved em and had no plans of buying any other chips. The first rack of paulsons I handled which were mint CInci 25s were a total game changer. I knew from the first moment I handled them that I was going to buy a full set and be done with CC chips. It literally was a 1 second decision.
CCs are the reason I landed here (well CT initially).
I've got playable sets of them all. ABS plastic, ceramic, CC, RT Plastics with plaques, Paulson, and Bud Jones. Sure I like some more than others, but they all get and deserve the love of table time. Are CCs as good as Paulsons? no, of course not. Is Maker's Mark as good as Four Roses? No - but they both are on my shelf for a reason.
Now I'm on a roll ..... I hate these because the old $1 chips were one of my favorite (so I hate them based on changing not the actual chip)

I like the original inlay 100x more, but the spots kinda tilt me.
