Chips you dislike (1 Viewer)

Could the people who said they dislike Paulson's 4TSA18 spot style elaborate a bit?
Tastes are different, but I am really curious as to why.

I don't know spot patterns off the top of my head, is that the Aztar 100?

It's this style.

Any red chip that's not the Mirage $5. For some reason, I really dislike red chips. Older Bellagio $5's, Ti $5's, and the Wynn $5's are fine too as they have very similar spot patterns to the Mirage $5 in the same red with white colors. I'll also give a free pass to the Caesar's $5 as I just love that entire set. The rest of the red chips suck (n)

Me too. Red chips are not my favorite, but I have come to realize they are a necessary evil in most sets since yellows don't exist in numbers.

I agree with many, disagree with some (I like some CIC) but I may cause some of you to get pitchforks, I do not like this chip.

I know many people think this abomination is awesome, but I just think it is awful. I love TRK, and dig most of them, but I just don't get this one.

Now excuse me while I go into witness protection.....

I think I like ceramics more than CCs. Hard to put into words, but it has something to do with honesty -- like a ceramic chip knows what it is and what it's not. A CC's only purpose is a low-cost replacement for something else.

That said, I sort of want these chips: https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/cc-dunes-cash-set.34834/
Ceramics over CC any day. I have Paulsons, CPC and ceramics. The cool thing about ceramics is i dont give a crap how people treat them

Same. I am not a fan of red chips at all. It just bugs me for some reason.

I like ceramics so far but I haven't messed with many. The day of the dead chips are pretty nice and ceramics can have super vivid colors.

Right now since I am on a spending ban I hate all chips.

I just can't get over the little circle mark on the side of most ceramics. I'm not sure if this can be avoided but the majority of ceramic samples I have received have these. I am surprised so many people get over this with Sunfly's.

Joking aside, the bold part of your quote is exactly right. The China Clay is an attempt to get close to the look and feel of a compression-molded chip at a fraction of the cost. There was and still is a market for these chips - people who want something better than dice chips but cannot afford or do not like the other options available.

When I got my first set of CCs (Desert Palms tourney set) several years ago, I said that it was 80% of a Paulson for 20% of the price. I might choose slightly different numbers today, but I think the sentiment is still true.

Part of me is glad I skipped CCs and came straight here. The other part of me wishes I went with CCs and never found this place lol. I think if I wasn't such a collector and didn't have a "gotta have the best" mentality I would be fine with just a set of CCs.

Honestly I am very surprised someone has not taken over the high end home game chip market with clay chips on the same quality and feel level as Paulson. Seems like it would be quite profitable if done right.

The key to enjoying CCs is never handle paulsons. I had a full set of Dunes CC which I painstakingly cleaned and oiled by hand. I loved em and had no plans of buying any other chips. The first rack of paulsons I handled which were mint CInci 25s were a total game changer. I knew from the first moment I handled them that I was going to buy a full set and be done with CC chips. It literally was a 1 second decision.

Can't agree enough. I have a 2000 chip set of Milanos that I haven't touched in over a year. They were great until the Native Lights sale....

CCs are the reason I landed here (well CT initially).

I've got playable sets of them all. ABS plastic, ceramic, CC, RT Plastics with plaques, Paulson, and Bud Jones. Sure I like some more than others, but they all get and deserve the love of table time. Are CCs as good as Paulsons? no, of course not. Is Maker's Mark as good as Four Roses? No - but they both are on my shelf for a reason.

Maker's Mark > Four Roses  :whistling:

Lets talk about this one ....when I went into Hard Rock a couple years ago and got these lame-o chips at a table, I had a hard time reading what they said. All those great $5 chips they have and this is what you get when you need $1's
