Chips you dislike (6 Viewers)

Trigger warning. Here's my list of dislikes. Still new so I could be saved or changed with more time.

1) Solids (show me the spots! More spots more better)
2) Hot Stamps (just not a fan, love a good inlay)
3) S crown and L crown (honestly could change this to any mold that's not THC or RHC, love me some Paulson top hats) but these 2 are the main hyped molds currently. I assume for history purposes and the back story was interesting, the looks just don't do it for me.
4) Most important for last - those rare chips I can't get my damn hands on no matter how much I want them!

Warning. These are my personal opinions from a month of chipping. Put the pitch forks down.
Forgot to mention 95 percent of white chips. Too boring for me. Blue all day.

@saleen121212 I just looked in the mirror and saw your reflection.

Also, I hate chips in other peoples' stacks. HATE THEM! HATE HATE HATE!!! (All chips are given amnesty that join my stack by sessions' end)

OP couldn’t take the heat with the original title, eh? ;)

Well with all the hate in the world at the moment we need to do our bit to keep the peace I suppose.

Nah I realized I don't necessarily hate the chips on my list. They just don't appeal to me. I also like it around here and don't want to piss the wrong people off lol.

Hands down, by far my favorite Paulson edgespot. However, the Empress $100 is still ugly.

I too disliked Hotstamps. Now they are my last remaining grail set. I just cannot justify the price.

I'm also a fan of Cool Ranch Doritos. Said it, done. (Nacho Cheese is still the best though).

Finally, in the hate column...
Non-standard colors. Cali is fine. Vegas is fine. Anything "creative because they are mine" is for ego-driven bastards that dont care about anyone but themselves. You know who else said "you can use whatever color you want for each denom"? The makers of dice chips.

Non-standard denoms. T2000? Stuff-it. Lots of great custom sets are crippled by this "creative" alternative. Why? Because you wanted to use more T500s so novice players and drunks will count large piles of them in stacks of 2? Brilliant, you really thought that one through

Quit stealing my players! Ugh

I dislike all faux casino/cardroom themed chips or anything with the words “poker” on them. I joined the forum thinking the focus was full custom chips. Had no idea how popular that stuff was.

I stick around for the great conversation but I’m no chipper. Outside of some of the great customs I’ve seen here and Paulson Noirs, I really don’t like anything:unsure:

PS: I do kind of like those Day of the Dead chips though.

We need a grind my gears thread. The cost of certain chips is what I hate the most about this hobby. In most collecting hobby I like rarity and the price that comes with it. For some reason it's different with this hobby, the unavailability or straight unjustifiable price of some chips is hard to bare.

I can only speak for myself but my love for scrown and lcrowns have more to do with TRK.

Not the history or the looks. But TRK chip composition is unmatched. They’re feel and sound are exactly what I want in a chip. No Paulson, CPC,ASM, BCC even come close to the feel and sound of TRKs but that’s just my take

I can add RHC molds to my dislikes since they always chip on the edge

See I've never touched a TRK, maybe if I had the same experience as you with them I would change my mind.

Let me send you a barrel to play with and handle

Since we need more love. This is what I love about this forum. Everyone's always willing to help. I've gotten multiple offers this week alone for people to send me free stuff. I can't wait to pay it forward for others.

I hate Jessie Beck's Riverside TRKs, there I said it. A tiny black and white picture of an old lady's face is about the most unappealing thing you can put on a chip.

Yes, the edgespots and the TRK mold are awesome. But to have such vibrant aesthetics in colours and design on the outside and pair that with a tiny picture like that, it just ruins it for me.

Just flip it over, problem solved.

Pm me your address and I’ll send you a rack that you can fondle. But they are just on loan. I’ll want them back because.....well...TRK

I think you forgot one, but before I remind you, please remember that...

Vegas is fine.

I've seen a lot of posts from you complaining about the cost of chips, and I don't get it, either buy them or don't. The cost of chips is simple supply and demand, which is perfectly justifiable. 10 years ago when I started with this hobby chips were cheap compared to now, but there are a lot of new members in that time that are all going after a lot of the same "grail" sets that were already that back then.

Buy something you like within your budget and you'll always be happy. There's a lot of chips that are unattainable to me because of cost and yet I still have killer cash and tourney sets. I'd love to own some of those unattainable chips but I don't worry about it, because owning them wouldn't make me happy anyway if it was out of my financial reach. I enjoy them vicariously when members post pic's and then go play with my own great chips.

Well all the pieces of clay with paint on them I like are expensive and I'm a broke new parent so get used to the complaining lol. I do buy what I want and can afford, but it still infuriates me that I can't find a yellow thc chip at a decent price. I understand supply and demand. I also respect rarity. My complaining is mainly a joke. When I started this hobby I knew what I wanted look wise and quality wise but I had no idea the price tags would be so high, still adjusting to that shock.

I don't hate any of them really. Some appeal to me much more than others. That said I have to admit I don't really get Bud Jones. Plastic with unspealing edge spot designs. That's just me.

For me it's fresh tortilla chips and hot salsa all day and all night. Doritos?! That's not flavor, thats a chemical Frankenstein.

I know it's controversial to publicly hate on someones custom chips but @WhiteMamba1646's Havana CardRoom custom set is just so terrible looking. If I were him I would give them away. No one would probably take them and since I hate the idea of poker chips to be thrown out... I guess I would take them for him but he'd definitely owe me. :D:D:D:D:D:D

On a real note though for me the most popular chip that I just don't get are PNY's and I couldn't tell you why they just don't do it for me. Honorable mentions are Vineyard's and Chipcos.

I actually love the fact dice and other plastic chips exist because if there was an alternative universe where they didn't think about how many more people would be looking for the chips I want!

I forgot pnys existed. Not my style either.
