Chipper Confessions (1 Viewer)

I also confess that three of my sets are non denominated and my players never had a problem with that.
I confess that I love the turn these “confessions” are taking. You do you, brother. Somebody’s got to carry the torch for nondenoms

I confess that my Avatar is a genuine Paulson that I am in love with, but secretly wanting to sell it to a lucky guy.

I confess that non denominated chips are one thing that would keep me from coming back  :ROFLMAO:

I modified my Last Will and Testament a couple of weeks ago to include my chips. My attorney looked at me like I was nuts.

“Poker chips? Why don’t you just turn them in for cash?”

“Because the casinos are mostly defunct.”

“So they’re worthless? You can’t redeem them?”

“No, but they’re collectible, like art.”

“So you hang them up in some of kind of display?”

“Um no, I have them in a custom cabinet.”

“What do you do with them?”

“Play poker, but mostly just take them out, fondle them, and look at them.”

“Is there a valuation source we should list? Some kind of official body like we have CGC for comics?”

“I don’t think so.”

“And you have how many?”

Sigh.

I have the same problem with another hobby of mine where I have 10k+ easily in value but it would be really hard to value by a lay person. Even getting things like insurance for it can be tricky never mind for shipping, just to ensure it against fire/water damage or the like.

It's almost like you want to designate someone in your will that your executor should go to to help liquidate that kind of thing.

I have all my poker equipment in my will as well. Tables, chairs, and chips. There is a note to that player in the will - "The game must go on".

Same guy also gets my cigar and whiskey.

Sure hope he doesn't find out ahead of time or I'm going to have to watch my back.

I bet your conversation with the insurance agent went similarly lol.

since you brought up the topic of will and testament....are you in need of a trustworthy executor and or poker chip loving adoptive son? I’ve asked to buried with my chips so you might want to consider that option. Or you could hide them somewhere in the Rockies like that crazy guy from Utah and write a poem with hints in it. I’m honestly just curious what you’re planning!

My next confession is that I didn't realize how many people hated murders/over-labels on here. Makes me more excited to finish my project and show it off now.

To be fair, I've never removed the inlays of anything rare imo, I avoid that to ensure I do not destroy short supplied things or pieces of history. I actually do not like rare things getting milled or murdered for sets, but easily available stuff? Its whatever to me.

Imagine a poker chip forum full of poker chip snobs...... ;)

BTW, I agree with you. I find it funny that people praise custom chips as long as they are produced by a vendor, but balk at using a label to create a custom chip by using you own hands.

I mean, I dont mind people having different opinions than I, I just didnt realize it was seen as taboo by so many people on here. When I first joined, I saw lots of content about re-labels and thought it was very common.

The pattern that irks some people is milling/murdering valuable, irreplaceable chips to relabel and then reselling those chips a month later. I don’t care personally, but the value destruction that occurs is evidence that the practice is unwise economically.

......It's like your speaking to me in Russian, and I just can't comprehend it....

I think taboo is a strong word, unless you’re talking about murdering rare, desirable chips, which doesn’t happen very often.
But I think it’s worth mentioning that this whole murder/reliable thing is pretty new.

When I started reading this site about 5 years ago, relabels (except for fracs or other fill in the missing denom chips) were party rare. Like, I’m hard-pressed to think of many relabeled sets. I can remember fewer than 5 being shown off around that time.
So maybe the community is still getting used to the concept?

I 100% can see how that would annoy people.

I collect axes now and again. When I see people take vintage stuff, especially old hand forged rarities and turn them into Frankenstein like projects, my skin crawls.

Possibly that is the case, it makes sense for sure.

I'm quite new to the world of poker and chips, so I dont get bothered roo much when I see rare murder stuff because I dont have a strong attachment to it all yet and dont really know why it's rare, what it is, etc.

Not sure if and when that attitude would/will change, but its interesting to see where the community stands on certain things.

I will be murdering some Solids though for my last project I think though. I need to find some greens, purples, blues, and pinks. Then I'll retire being a murderer....for a while....

If you want custom personalized Paulson chips and are not part of NAGB what other choice besides murder is there? Some of my favorite viewing this year has been of chips murdered and relabeled. I confess to that big time. Havana Cardroom and Beantown Poker I’m looking at you!!!
