Basement Poker Room & Home Theater (7 Viewers)

Finished up this morning! Took the glued up shelves and attached the slides:

Then loaded them into the cabinet:

Just squeaked this by door hinge.

And done! Loaded up the humidification canisters and started the system up. I'll probably wait a few days for all the spanish cedar to acclimate to the humidity, then calibrate the humidification system and add in all my sticks. This cabinet should almost double my overall capacity, so it's time to order more!

This marks completion of all the projects I have planned for the room, though I have one more related side project to tackle next month, but that's going in the laundry area.
Awesome job! Jealous of your skills!

I showed this epic cabinet to my wife, and she was impressed and awestruck with the craftmanship. Suddenly the much more modest poker room plans I had didn't seem as intimidating to her as before, paling in comparison.. Thanks @Irish ! :whistling:

What happens when you buy more chips? Where are you going to put/display them?

They'll have to share the rotation with these....

Does not get much nicer than that...I had to deduct points for the Mets trash can.

Seriously so impressive. I might have to make the drive down JUST to see this incredible piece. Beautiful!!

As a fellow Mets fan, I can say that trash can is very appropriate.

I may be interested in buying the AC Boardwalk chips if you ever need to clear out some closet space  :whistling:

Sorry but those will not be leaving casa de Irish anytime soon, and I think you're like 6 deep on the interest list lol.

Can't blame a guy for trying.

Can I play with them one day? (Out of context thread need not apply)

Absolutely can't

Only if you're gentle with them.

We use the boardwalks primarily for limit games, but I'm planning on adding in a few more NLHE cash nights, so they'll make an appearance at some point. Probably at the meetup as well.

Sounds great!

I don't at all mean to derail the thread (again), but have you noticed any chipping or flea bites on the hybrids with light use? I'd imagine they'd pretty durable unless you had people literally throwing them around the room.

Nope, haven't had any issues with minor home use, it's a great set.

Irish... I'm really impressed with it all. It came a really long way. You worked really hard and it shows!!

You've set the bar exceptionally high. Metaphorically that is, not your physical bar.

I went to fill up the humidor and realized I never made the partitions for the singles drawer. I used a few extra spanish cedar planks with weatherstripping on each side, makes them easy to slide into place and you can move them around as needed.

All seasoned and stocked - with plenty of extra space!

Do you smoke in the basement? If so do you have anything in place to dissipate the smoke?

Negative, all cigars are smoked out on the back deck, hate the smell of smoke inside.

Was curious since it looks like you use it as family space too. My wife would have my head if we lit up in the basement.

Haha yeah that's the probably the bigger reason, I thought about the possibility of adding an exhaust system for about 30 seconds - then thought better of even trying to broach that one with my wife. :ROFLMAO:

The room doubles as a gaming area for the boys and a home theater, so the space is used all the time now. Best renovation I've done on the house to date.

If you ever get bored and want to make someone a humidor, I know a fella who'd be interested!

Amazing work, seriously.

This my friend is a thing of beauty! The display cabinets for the chips, the humidor, beer taps.....Very well done @Irish

Basement side project! The other half of my basement (still unfinished) consists of my workshop and a laundry area. I had a bit of space to squeeze in a urinal next to the washer/dryer/sink, so folks don't have to run upstairs on poker nights.

Gross old slop sink and spot for the urinal:

Figured it was time to replace the sink as well. I had some leftover vinyl planks from the bar, threw those down to make it look a little nicer. Not sure how well they'll last directly on the concrete but they're easy to remove if they start peeling up.

Kind of ghetto I know but it was a pretty cheap upgrade, does the job and will be easy to pull out if needed.

Of all the recent renovations, additions and purchases, this one got the biggest eye roll from the wifey (and its not even close). The boys already love it though lol.
