Thinking about remaking armrests with no cup holders and better foam. Should I make it in two halves or rewrap the sections individually?

Has anybody installed jumbo cup holders, and have pictures of finished product? Are they too deep to allow table to be folded back up?

I did:
1) to edge of the rail and not under it. The foam armrests will not sit correctly with larger foam

2) just to the edge of the table, not into the crease

Photo below...I was sloppy with tucking the vinyl on that rail piece but the foam under the playing surface came out really well

Did you rewrap two halves of railing? Any more pictures/tips as I want to add padding but remove that cup holders

I rewrapped annd refoamed all 6 railing pieces individually. I didn’t bother to fill in cup holders….just foamed over them as if they weren’t there, it turned out fine.

Last tip is to get one of those neoprene toppers, (it’s on my list to acquire before DiD) and it takes the table from good to excellent

Hey ya'll...im looking at buying my first table and I found what looks like a couple year old barrington on the local marketplace for $100... it looks like this type (see link) ...is it worth it for temporary use then to upgrade?

$100 is a steal based on current pricing.

$380 cheaper on Amazon.

It depends on how quickly you want to get it. I believe I paid $150 for my table when it went on sale. That's a brand new one. Prices on them are closer to $350 right now, so $100 doesn't seem horrible if it's in good shape and you need it now.

I dont need it. Its convenient and comes with a cheap 500 piece chip set...from the pictures its in great shape. Ill probably ask if he could go down to 75.

I will replace the chip set with something from discount poker store in the near future. I'm new so just getting my baby steps going.

I’ve played on a barrington and they're fine. Stable enough, and honestly the stock felt and padding are fine. Adequate at least. The only real problem with them in my eyes is the stock cupholders. They’re so shallow, they’ll never prevent a spill - if you hit your drink, it’s going over. But spilling a drink on a hundred dollar table probably isn’t the end of the world. So for a hundred bucks, yeah grab it.

For those that want a Barrington, Wayfair has what appears to be the same table under a different brand for $270 right now: Wayfair Barrington
Different table. "Traditional" Barrington tables usually discussed here are the 10-person, 84" version.

This table is great, but is an 8-person at 71". Just a heads up for anyone comparing the two.

Appreciate the clarification - I saw the look of it and figured it was the same but I should have checked the measurements. I kinda want a smaller one now…

Last fall, I found a deal on Walmart's website for the brown Barrington for $200 delivered. I bought it with the intention of refitting it with speed cloth and lights before I ever played a hand on it. Life intervened, and I didn't get a chance to even start the project until this spring. A late decision to add lights caused a further delay, as I had to cut and shape plywood to match the rail pieces.

The lights are meant to go behind a TV, but they worked out beautifully. And they're USB powered, so I don't need a power outlet to have a lit game--a phone recharger battery pack is zip-tied underneath the table and will run the lights for hours on its' own.

I'm rather pleased with how it turned out, and can't wait to get some games going on it.

Here's links to what was used in this project:

did you use the existing rail boards for the jumbo cup holders? I am wanting to replace my cup holders with jumbo but I want to see if the existing wood will support the mod.

Finally figured out some carrying handles.

Materials:
2 guitar amp handles: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Leather-St...eg-Vox-Black-Vintage-Style-H1008/382129391886
1 yard of strap material: https://www.dritz.com/quilting-sewi...straps/polypropylene-webbing-belting/28602-1/
2 wood screws

I got the strap material from a local fabric store (JoAnn's).

The handles work great. The table is pretty heavy but with the handles much less awkward to carry and two people can carry it pretty easily. When the table is set up the handles hang underneath but they are really not noticeable.

Think screwing those handles directly into the sides of the table under the padded rail would also work? I'm bummed the carrying bag everyone uses for this table doesn't fit the ESPN table, so I need a different way to carry it.
