Re-posting over here, as this seems to be the main Apache case post...

Just picked up the Apache 4800, and it's perfect for 1k chips with extras. I ended up putting racks upside down on top of the bottom layer of chips to help protect them and also boost the height a little bit. They stick up just the perfect amount to create a nice firm hold with the top foam, there is no movement when the case is closed. These cases are such a great value and a no-brainer for chip storage even if you don't plan on traveling with them much.

The Apache 4800 is a great case for the money. You could get 1200 chips in there as long as your shoulders can handle carrying it and still have room for two decks of cards.

Oh man, that's cool. Hey, does anyone know if 650 chips will fit inside a 3800 case? I mean I'd hate to separate these babies up but I kinda over-ordered by mistake.
Based on post #162 it looks like it would fit but you can only put in one set of cards possibly

I have 800 chips plus 2 sets of cards and 2 dealer buttons in my 3800

Basically at this point I have to make a decision and I can go one of four ways with this setup:

1. Try to put 650 chips in one of these Apache 3800 cases. Like I said, I made a mistake and thought I was ordering 100 .50s, I accidentally forgot to order the .50s and ordered 100 $100 chips when I planned to order 50. I doubt I will end up buying enough Lady Luck chips to bring it to 800.
2. Since I won't need 100 hundos, just use 50 and put 600 39's in with the case and keep the 50 around for extras, or
3. Give up on Matsuis and try putting 540 43mm in that bad boy with my Dia De Los Muertos chips.
4. Buy a 4800 and have a massive case for my 650 Lady Luck Casino chips.

Sorry I actually misspoke. I have 600 not 800. But I've seen some with 800 and a set of cards. It's all about getting the pluck foam configuration drawn up before pulling any of it out.

Course the other thing I could do is if I like the 3800, buy a 4800 or another 3800 for the other set and just buy it a different color so I can spot it easier.

Yea that's a big case! Dimension wise it's not as deep as the 4800 but has more length. I've seen others use pelican cases that were like that (rolling big case) but they used mycasebuilder.com to create custom foam to directly place the chips inside. How many chips are you looking to take with you?

I would just buy both, and whichever one you don't end up using for chips, use it for a nice pistol case :)

New Apache, new work in progress re-label set...

Created removable inserts for potential chip set additions and for easy removale of bud jones boxes since they interlock

Picked up my Apache 3800 cases last month, but finally getting around to fitting them to my chip set. Originally I was going to lay the Matsui cases on their side and go 7 wide (2 cases of 700 chips each).

But now I’m thinking I will do 800 in one case and 600 plus 20 plaques, card case, dealer buttons and cut cards in the other using this layout.

This layout works perfectly for Matsui racks because the length of a single rack (8.81”) is basically exactly the same as the width of 3 racks (8.82”).

What’s the link for replacement pick and pull foam for the Apache 3800? I can see I’m going to need more of this stuff. #Oops

Hmmm ... how bad did it go for you? No chance of salvaging it with super glue?

I did a quick search, and the foam replacements are more expensive than the case. I don't understand that at all.

Oh it went fine, but because I like to switch things up from time to time, I just thought some extra foam would be nice.

Quick question for those with this case.

I bought the 3800 and set it up similar to @ReallyGoodUsername.

My question/concern is that since I have china clays (CPS), will the force of the top rack of chips cause the the chips below to chip or break?
The way the racks are stacked, the top rack rests directly on the chips of the bottom rack. I worry that with both the pressure of the lid being closed and transport the chips may break or be damaged.

Is this a legitimate concern?

Thanks all!

Completely legitimate but no need to worry. CCs in good condition will stand up to that pressure with no problems. Some older CCs (I think only majestics and Paulsons manufactured 4+ years ago) however have been known to become brittle and crumble during normal wear and tear circumstances. So if they do crack, it isn’t because of your storage method.

Had to go to Harbor Freight today for a couple of other things, so I picked up a 3800. Not sure exactly how I'm going to set it up, but I'll figure out something. I don't have enough racks because I have 8Vs that don't fit in most racks, so I'd like to put the chips directly into the foam. Not sure I want to spend for a my case builder setup though.
