I currently have a Mezz with their WD700 LD shaft. I have yet to try the Revo myself but I don't think I will mind it at all.
Nice. I'm not familiar with the Revo shafts. Back when I was playing every day they only had the 314 and Z shafts, and the Z2 was new. I see a lot of people, even pros, using composite shafts, I'm not even sure what they're made of.

Carbon-fiber if I'm not mistaken.
Sounds about right. I'll post a pic of my small collection of cues later. I used to buy, sell, and trade but kinda fell out about 11 years ago.

My first cue was a Scruggs and they're my favorite cues to play with, I don't even own any other types of cues anymore. Unfortunately he has now passed on and his cues have shot up in value.

Here is my small remaining collection of cues and cases, all players and all hit amazing. I think I posted some of these in another thread.

Tim Scruggs (main player) ~1979-1980 - 2 original shafts on the left, 1 LBM ferrule, 1 ivory / 2 Scruggs shaft wood on the right made by Bob Frey 1 LBM, 1 ivory

Scruggs makes a nice cue, I owned a couple back in the day. I haven't hill a ball in a decade but I should still have these 3 cues kicking around somewhere in a closet...

They're all Joss (aka or Dan Janes) cues. I don't like linen so the non-break cues are leather (black) ostritch (brown) wraps.

And just to certify how much of a non-player I am, when I bought my current house, it came with an 8' Gandy (w/rails). I gave it to a buddy of mine (he has three kids).

Great thread. From about 96-06 I owned an 8ft Olhausen with leather drop pockets and an inch of slate topped with beautiful midnight blue simonis cloth.
Had a nice set of Brunswick Centennial’s and a couple of Meucci cues, I think I still have one of them.
Just like fast cars, jet skis and beautiful houses on lakes, all those things go bye bye at a discount when you get a divorce. :ROFLMAO:
I’ll still race to 5 for $100 a game with anybody. ;)

$100 is a lot of money...... “ I don’t rattle kid ! “ EFelson

Nice! personally I think you made a wise choice selling the Gandy, never was a fan personally. Still, it was a table :D

Yeah, Gandy's got buckets for pockets and I don't sell things to my friends but looking back at the pics, I'm not sure it was a Gandy (I didn't keep it long)

I get any "chipper" rank for replacing it with a shitty card table? Those are Paulsons in the birdcage at any rate.

Hard to tell from the pics, but you have a nice space there. Very nice

I used to have a Southwest back in the day…

Used to love pool… it just took way too much time… and too degen. Oh wait that’s like poker!
Indeed, pool takes lots of time and practice.

Southwest cues are pretty nice and have always commanded a decent penny. They've always been highly sought after and the wait time to have one made is multiple years at this point, pretty sure it's been like that for a long time.

Did you have one made or buy one?

Jim, if you're a friend of Dennis and this is your pic, you look familiar

I probably ran into you at one or more of the events at the Turning Stone (Zuglan is a friend of mine).

Yep, I used to go to Turningstone twice a year for the tournament :) I probably stopped going in like 2012 or so.

I was never able to play in the tournament because of work, couldn't get off Thursday-Saturday, stupid job lol. I used to go to watch some locals, Dennis, and of course all the other great players. Their buffet used to be killer. Haven't been back in about 10 years but would like to maybe go this year.

It was made… but this was like 1999. I have moved many times since then and it’s still somewhere… lol.

Nice! I probably ran into you there on one or more occasions. I never played in those tour main events (I din't qualify, I would only play at the event at the Golden Cue). I can't remember the last time I went up to the stone for a tourney, or talked to Mike for that matter (I used to work at his room when I was in college which was when I was playing).

The next Turning Stone Classic XXXV tournament up there is September 1-4th, so maybe I'll try to make it up there for the weekend.

I don't want to join PCF (Pool Cue Forum) and fall down another rabbit hole but I would like to get a nice pool cue for the occasional times I hit my buddie's house - any recommendations?

My experience is mainly with handmade cues as opposed to production/mass produced cues. That being said, I believe there are a lot of really decent mass produced cues. Predator is a name that comes to mind, but hopefully some others can chime in with suggestions. Meucci is another but even going back 15-20 years I was told they are not what they once were.

Some beautiful cues Larry, I remember seeing these now, from another thread. Love the Scruggs obviously, that wrapless Espititu is a beaut as well.

Whats up with the joint on the Scruggs sneaky, is there a joint of different wood there or is it discolored? Maybe it's just the photos.

I use to love to shoot pool. It was always a great time, but I was just average at best. I was a regular at a local pool hall.

I remember when “The Color of Money” movie debuted. There was a “pool” boom. The place was packed after that. Thankfully, I just had to call ahead and they’d reserve a table for me.

Good times!

I used to play all the time growing up. I would beg my parents to buy a table but they always refused. I always wanted to get one for my home. I currently don't really have the room for one. I guess I could have chosen a pool table in the basement or a poker table and went for the poker table instead. Sometimes I kind of regret it lol. Maybe one day I convince the wife to let me have both.
